3 velcro snaps are quick and secure- should hold over time. Last pair was also Shimano wide MTB shoe, but w/major strap ratcheting. The ratchet mechanism failed after several years, so I prefer the newer velco strap design. Used for road and MTB; the recessed Time cleats allow for good shoe traction when dismounting and climbing trails. Based on last pair, should last many years or 10,000 miles based on rough estimate. Comfortable wide size; minimal break-in period.

These shoes were a steal. $50 for a high quality shoe like this is unheard of. Shimano really came through with these shoes. They are true to size, comfortable and work very well while off and on the bike. I haven't used them very many times, because I have some other Lake shoes that I have been using a lot lately. I just got the Shimano shoes in case I want to go for a ride and the Lake shoes have gotten wet and aren't dry yet. This is only true because I got the Lake shoes shortly before I got the Shimano shoes. The Lake shoes cost 3 times as much. But they aren't three times better. They are just a little bit more comfortable that the Shimano shoes. I don't mind the hook and loop fasteners. They work well.

I ride 2K miles a year on a recumbent trike. I have found that MTB shoes work best for my riding style. I don't need an aggressive treaded sole or cleats as I ride primarily on paved and/or hard surfaces but they're also comfortable for any walking I have to do. I didn't have the highest expectations for this shoe at its price point. However, I have been pleasantly surprised with them since receipt. They are comfortable, good looking, appropriately stiff and they are what I like to refer to as low profile. The velcro enclosure straps meet my needs for a good fit. The fact that I was able to get these at half off made the purchase even sweeter.

Size 42 ran small, but was quickly exchanged for 43 which is comfortable. Shoes feel solid. My feet got cold riding in 35F weather. I'll need bigger shoes that fit double socks or warm overshoes for winter riding. Shoes did not come with cleats. Overall, I am pleased with the shoes and the price was good.

I think this shoe is very good for the money. It's comfortable and the simple closure system has no fancy mechanism to break. I only deduct one star because they hike very poorly on trail if you have to get off the bike and push a bit. The rubber/material for the lugs is quite hard and struggles to find grip. But this is a minor nit pick given it's a cycling shoe and not a hiking shoe. Still a great deal for the money.

I love these shoes. I had been using clip pedals on my mountain bike for years and decided to step up to clipless. These shoes work great great with the SPD cleats and pedals I purchased. I ride mostly rail trails with this bike.

For those unfamiliar with Delaware there are no mountains here. The whole state is barely above water! I ride some gravel trails and single track at Lum's Pond State Park. I've never done any serious mountain biking. This shoe is extremely comfortable and cost effective for someone like me. I would even recommend the shoe if you commuted or ride a road bike that uses pedal the require the SPD cleat. It's nice to be able to get off the bike and walk without needing a cleat cover. The Velcro straps allow for a lot of adjustability and provide a snug fit. Not sure if Peter Sagan would recommend them but I will.!

I have wide feet. I normally wear a 10 wide. The 10.5 fit fine and felt much better after a couple rides. I thought I'd want the Boa but the straps work just fine. Walking is just fine.
