Review by DuckberryReviewed 6/5/2020by DuckberryCycling EnthusiastBerkshires3 of 3 customers found this review helpful.Great gravel and dirt road shoeStiff, comfortable, and light. This is more like a high end road shoe than a MTB shoe. The full carbon sole puts the power down, and the single boa dial makes it easy to tighten the shoe. The velcro strap is fairly worthless, imo, but otherwise the shoe is prefect. My favorite road shoes was a pair of R220 shoes with wht cat tongue heel. They were perfect, and size 46.5 fit great. I usually wear a size 12 US shoe, and got these in 47 thinking I needed extra room in the winter with heavier wool socks. In retrospect I probably could have gotten a 46.5 and been fine....what a great deal.

I held off ordering the Shimano RX800 for months. I'm so glad I decided to give them a try. Very light weight, nice secure fit and a great looking shoe. Highly recommended.

These shoes are set up for Frog cleats and I use them for road and gravel. I had been using Shimano MTB shoes which were a bit looser fitting and more flexible. These feel more like road shoes and have a very stiff sole and tighter fit. While they are walkable the bottoms are harder and front feels taller than the MTB shoes, so they also feel more like road shoes when walking on hard surfaces. They come with two pads to change the arch height. The medium was attached to the insole and the large was in the box. I had to remove the medium and run just the insole without either pad. Until I realized I could do that I thought they weren't going to fit my feet.

Review by WoolyReviewed 5/10/2022by WoolyCycling EnthusiastTexasOutstanding ShoeThis is a great shoe that fits my feet really well. Light, rigid and comfortable. Also comes with arch inserts for people (like me) with high arches. I perfect match for my Shimano XTR PD-M9100 pedals.
You can pay more but, why?

These shoes are comfortable with a firm sole. The sizing was spot on for me with a 46 for my normally 11.5 sized foot. With over 700 miles on them now, I don't regret my purchase and looking forward to many more century rides with them.

The build quality feels top notch, but they just aren't as comfortable as the RC7's and I'm still getting used to them. Hopefully as I break them in more, the feel will improve.

Review by jarofclayReviewed 7/12/2021by jarofclayPiedmont of SC1 of 1 customers found this review helpful.Best bang for the buckThe shoes are just what you expect from Shimano. Excellent quality and features, that seem consistent across the products offered by Shimano. They are as advertised, light weight and stiff. Sizing is consistent with the other Shimano shoes that I have owned. I have greatly enjoyed riding in these shoes.

Review by Alexis KReviewed 5/24/2021by Alexis KSan Francisco, CA1 of 1 customers found this review helpful.Things you didn't know you neededThese shoes definitely fit the category. I mean I didn't realize I needed a gravel bike until a year ago, let alone that using road pedals off road was not a thing.
Now that I've upped my gravel game, I get it and having these shoes is one more reminder that I can evolve right alongside the sport.
Great fit, great quality, light but sturdy. Love shoes without tongues. Feels like second skin.

Review by BLTReviewed 3/19/2021by BLTCycling EnthusiastVancouver, Washington USA3 of 4 customers found this review helpful.More narrow than typical Shimano shoeI had to return these for being too narrow. I'm 6'5" and wear New Balance size 13D (standard width). I've owned several pairs of Shimano cycling shoes, always size 48, and never had an issue with width. I could barely move my toes once I squeezed into these.

Light, stiff, plenty of room. I also have the new S-Phyre shoes, and these are surprisingly a bit more comfortable.

Review by SheriffReviewed 1/24/2021by SheriffCycling EnthusiastSpokane, WA1 of 1 customers found this review helpful.Fits true to size and the foot bed is comfortableLove the Boa lacing system, cinching in the middle of a ride is easy as just reaching down and giving the knob a twist.
Plus Boa has a great part replacement warranty program on their website for when the dials or lace wear out. These shoes are much better then the Specialized S Works Recon pair I bought at > twice the price.
Nice looking, lightweight shoe at a great price.

Review by JeffReviewed 12/21/2020by JeffCompetitive RacerLos Angeles CA1 of 1 customers found this review helpful.great gravel shoehard to beat Shimano for the wide footed amongst us, and wear your kicks to the disco? Priceless.
Great stiffness and comfort without the heavy duty treat of a MTB shoe. You should be dancing, yeah.

Review by surfnjmattReviewed 12/16/2020by surfnjmattCompetitive RacerOcean City, NJ1 of 1 customers found this review helpful.Better if they had half sizeswhish they had half sizes, I am an 11 and size 46 is to big and places the cleat to far forward and the 45 is to small. Will try the MTB show in 45.5
Also the front strap is useless and does not allow you to snug down on the front of foot

Review by AnonymousReviewed 10/29/2020by Anonymous1 of 1 customers found this review helpful.Yes!!For my gravel bike I Wanted the exact feel as my road / 3 bolt S-Phyres, but not wanting to spend 400 on the xc9. In same size, These fit just a tiny bit roomier in toe box than my road s-phyres - excellent. Even with the single boa It's still the similar glove like fit as the s-phyre- super light and stiff but perfectly comfortable. For the gravel riding I do these are perfect. My only wonder is how long the tread lugs will last.

Good looking shoe, with great comfort. A little difficult to get your foot in, but once it is in, the fit is beautiful. Great performance feel with a rigid sole, yet easy to walk in.

I enjoyed these shoes so much on my gravel bike that I put SPD pedals on my road bike and use the shoes for every ride. Still experimenting with insoles to see which goes best in these shoes.
This shoe preforms as well as anything I have tried and at half the cost of some shoes in my closet.
