I purchased a base model Shimano cylcing shoe and it worked from the beginning. But as my rides grew longer and more arduous, it began to wear on my feet. In short, after about 25 miles, my dogs were barkin'! It was time for a new boot. The SH-EX500 shoe struck the balance for me between cost, functionality, and looks. It checked all of the boxes, and my rides are much smoother and quieter, now that my dogs don't bark after 25 miles.

I needed to replace some shoes that I'd worn for a few years. I had become sensitive to the shoe rubbing on my big toes. I usually wear a size 9 shoe and have a foot that is just a little wider than usual. These fit me very well, and I was pleased with the toe room. I am happy with the quality of the construction, and feel they were priced right. I've only ever had the one other pair of shoes with cleats, so I can't compare them to more expensive brands. I am happy with these after about several 25-30 mile rides.

Used for mountain biking. A little difficult to get on, but once they are on, very comfortable and do the job as advertised!
