Outdated because a modern wheel should have at least a 23mm width, minimum. Steve Hed (late founder of HED wheels) was pushing the benefits of wider rims about 12 years ago! Overpriced because it has Dura Ace on it and is made by Shimano. But Shimano Dura Ace components are a different story to their wheels. And Unnecessary because this is an in-between rim depth. You can get 30mm deep alloy rims that will perform the same or 45mm carbon rims that will be more aero. So all this wheelset has going for it is build quality, durability and a Dura Ace label. A better alternative would be A Force 33 rims laced to your favorite hubs where you get to pick the spoke count for 200 dollars less than the sale price here.

Love these, can feel a huge difference over the stock fulcrum s 19 i had. Love the reliable braking, look and Shimano quality.

fast on flats as well on climbing hills, great brakes on downhills.

I use these clincher wheels ( my second set now) for fast group rides which may encounter a pot hole here and there along with a few steep climbs. The Dura Ace C40 wheelset is perfect for these type of rides as the mid dept rim makes them basically un-affected by wind and they stop great. I still use low profile climbing wheels for long training rides through the mountains.

They look much better on the bike than off. This fit's the bill for a light, stiff, medium depth carbon wheel with reliable alloy braking Exactly what I needed. Feels like quality and mostly, I look way more cool. Giving it a 4 star since not a marked change from the previous model. And there is always room for improvement with anything.
