These wheels are not cheap but then again what wheels are nowadays. But good value for the money. I like the way they attack the hills. I know I'm not a great hill-climber, but these wheels are lighter and better than my old wheels. They may me want to push myself on the hills. It is almost as though the wheels force you to push harder because there are no excuses any more. Can't blame the wheels. And as others have already said, they are great in the wind. It is no fun riding in the wind with deep-dish wheels. These new Shamano 9000-C24-TL wheels seem less affected by crosswinds on steep downhills. I didn't feel the wind pull me off course. Nice. Shocks are still there when you go hard over unexpected dips and bumps but the jarring sensation is dampened greatly. Maybe I'll keep the fillings in my teeth with these wheels. And one thing that I didn't expect, I don't seem to need to pump up the tires as often. Perhaps because I'm running with tubes on a tubeless wheelset, there is less need to pump up the tires every time I ride. When my current tires wear out, I look forward to going tubeless with these wheels.

After a year of too many flats, I decided to go tubeless on my road bike. I'd already come up the learning curve on tubeless, having gone that route for cyclocross, so making the change wasn't as daunting as it might otherwise have been. These wheels roll fantastically well. They're quiet (if you like a loud freewheel, look elsewhere) and visually subtle. Most importantly, they work. I'd been running a set of wheels that were more aero, and I don't miss them a bit. Maybe I'm a tad slower on fast descents, I'm almost certainly faster on climbs. Crosswinds are no longer the issue. The wider rim, combined with tubeless tires, makes for a more supple ride over normal clinchers. I run these with a set of Schwalbe Pro Ones, and just love this setup. I had poor luck with a set of Hutchinson Atoms. Negatives? Well, the wider rim does mean the brake pads are very close to the rim in their most open position. Also - be very careful in your choice of sealant. Shimano recommends using none at all, but that's just silly. However, a high-pH sealant such as Stan's will eat these rims. Use a low-pH sealant and you're good.

I have 120 miles on these wheels in the past two days since they arrived. The on-line weights I saw on numerous web sites were all over the board. My park digital scale weighed my set in without rims strips (not needed) tubeless valves, or quick releases at 600 grams for the front and 790 grams for the rear. You can definitely feel the light weight as the wheels spin up fast and love to go up hills. I set them up with tubes and 25c Vittoria pro slicks. The wheels really smooth out the road vibrations. What is incredible is the lateral stiffness. I am not a small guy at 6'3 and 215 lbs and the wheels corner really nice. They are not the sexy tall carbon look that everyone seems to ride these days. But where I ride it gets windy, windy, windy, and windier as the day goes on. These wheels are not an issue with cross wind handling. So ask yourself if you want to look cool and blow all over the road with tall carbon rims and their well documented braking issues, or do you want a stiff, light, set of wheels that climb, corner, and brake like a quality wheel set is supposed to. Thanks BTD for your years of great customer service, fast shipping, incredible sale prices, and reliable products!

Needed to replace a set of Ksyriums last spring and decided to go tubeless with a set of 7900 Dura-Ace C24-TLs. In 20 plus years of riding and racing with a lot of climbing this was absolutely one of the most significant improvements I've ever made to ride quality. Up or down the canyon they are awsome. My only disappointment was that they were not 9000 compatible. But I liked them enough to sell a bike to spring for another set for the new 9000 group I got for Christmas(and birthday...and father's day...and anniversary...)Not cheap, but relative to other high end wheel sets they are a lot of bang for the buck, and the Bike Tires Direct points helped pay for tires.

I have to say that I've never been one to take the time and write a review on a product. However, after one ride using the DA 9000-C24-TL with Hutchison Fusion tubeless tires, I felt compelled to share the sweetness of the ride quality. I highly recommend this set up. The wheels are smooth as silk and with the lower tire pressure of 90-100 psi, the chip sealed roads that I have to ride became less of a dread. I wheels are stiff and yet the tubeless tires make for a very comfortable riding experience. I mounted them with a sealant to hopefully eliminate having to change out the stem on the road and use a tube in order to change a flat. The tires are not easy to mount, however, so be prepared to use use a soapy solution on the bead and lots of patience to aid in the process. Once you get them on the road, you'll probably ride faster than usual and want to ride longer.
