I use this tire as the everyday tire in the winter. Once the snow and ice sticks around these tires stay on the bike. It's great that the spikes can be engaged more or less with PSI adjustments making it easy to prepare for the conditions in the morning. The tread rolls pretty fast in my opinion. Don't think that these spikes will save you all the time. They do help, but be prepared to learn how to fish tail a bit when it gets hairy.

Purchased these tires just in time for the first big snow here in Kansas.
These tires provide adequate surface area for traction in deep snow and the all too common 'black' ice on the streets and sidewalks. Mad grip. Great deal. Will keep these on for the remainder of the season on my commuter bicycle.
I have the same set of tires (700cc) on my hybrid bicycle as well. Great price, very reliable and they've lasted 3 seasons from winter in the DC area to here in KS.

I bought these tires for my son to use in the winter. Their main use is to get him to school which is less than 1 mile away. The reflective strip on these Schwalbe tires is amazing. I have Schwalbe Marathon Winter tires and have not had a flat or a crash in 3 years of Chicago winters. I ride 24 miles everyday, except below 0 deg F.

I have used these tires occassionally over the past 5 years. I live in Idaho Falls, Idaho, so we can have tough winters, although this winter to date (mid-February 2012) has been a breeze and I have used the tires pretty much all winter. They are okay as long as you don't have to deal with much ice or packed snow. For real ice (which most winters we have on the streets for 3 months or so)I use Schwalbe Ice Spiker Pros. But if you only occassional have ice or snow, these tires should be okay. As a usage tip, when there is little or no ice, I will inflate the tires to 50 psi, which will effectively keep the studs from contacting the pavement. saving wear and allowing you to go faster. So bottom line, occassionalminor ice and snow, use these tires. However, if you have moderate to heavy ice and snow, go with the Ice Spiker Pros - you won't be sorry.

Great value, though this tire is not as fast as the Schwalbe Winter Marathon on icy pavement, and doesn't have quite aggressive enough knobs for snow and soft stuff. Not bad if you need to pick one tire for both icy road and some off-road snow. However, expect to slide around some in the snow!
