They're expensive, but there's nothing better for winter riding! They bite firmly on glare ice, and even if there's an inch or two of snow on top. I never feel like I could go out of control. I can slam on the brakes on ice, and cut skid grooves in the ice while I stop in a straight line! Deep snow is another matter, but it's not the fault of the tires. It's just too hard to pedal in deep snow. I had Nokian Freddie's Revenz previously on another bike, and the Ice Spikers are pretty much carbon copies of those...Carbide pointed studs and an aggressive tread pattern. Those seem to not be available anymore, But no problem Schwalbe makes great tires, and these are no exception. When these wear out, I will DEFINITELY replace them with the same tires. Do NOT settle for plain steel (Non-Carbide) studs, which will wear out really fast, or flat studs like studded car tires. They will NOT grab on ice like these sharp pointed ones, and being carbide, these last a long time, and hold up to asphalt. See video reviews of these online...You'll be impressed!
