It does an ok job of holding the front tire in position while on the trainer. It can shift when really stomping on a climb, but is relatively easy to shift back while riding. Some folks might just use a stack of phone books, but these are obsolete and hard to find these days.

I already use two SARIS Climbing (adjustable levels) Blocks with my SARIS trainer. I wanted something a bit more challenging/sweat producing and got a 3rd climbing block. It WORKS, by adjusting the levels, you can produce a REALLY STEEP climb. I usually go 30 minutes with the double and 20 minutes with the triple, and 10 mi cool down with the double.
