I typically wear a road kit. Looking to do some bikepacking and wanted some shorts with a detachable liner. The narrative says they are detachable but they aren't. I assume shorts that have a detachable liner have an re attachment method. This doesn't. Oh, well..

Shorts are great. Padding is plush and all material is breathable, a bit stretchy, and seemingly durable. I can sometimes wear a size 30, but DEFINITLEY had to go with the 32.

This is my first pair of PI mountain bike shorts. I have a couple PI road bibs that I really like, so I am happy to be as satisfied with these shorts as my road bibs.

I like the style of the shorts. I use them for Mountain biking and I like them because they are no too long (Just above the knees). They have 2 design defects that Pearl Izumi should take note to fix them: 1) the outer shell and the inner chamois linner are not detachable, which I hate as they can not be wash separately. I finally end cutting out the straps that kept attached the outer shell with the chamois.
2) lack of elasticity in the waistband. It can be adjusted with internal velcro straps, but I don't like this system because that puts an unattractive "pucker" in the outer waistband

Really like the fit and look of these shorts. This is my first mountain bike short purchase. Up to now, I only rode with road bike shorts. I was worried about loose shorts snagging the seat or the fabric rubbing on my legs. None of these issues materialized. Just bought a second pair. I wash them in the washing machine and hang them on the bike to dry. Only issue is after washing, I have to untwist the lining before hanging to dry.

Good all around short. Seems rugged so far. I think I'll get another in a different color.
