I rode these on my commutingtouring bike from June through December in Chicago streets. Gravel, glass, all the crap that accumulates on the roads is especially tough on Chicago's West Side. I had one flat all season on them and that was early on. Highly recommend these for City commuting. They also look pretty cool!

I've been training on these everyday for a few weeks now and can confidently say they're excellent. They're not light, they're not silky smooth but they roll fast, corner nice and I've had no flats. Spec is dead on. These are 27mm on the money with 23mm rims inflated to 88psi. I'm a ride quality nazi and yes, 88psi on a 23mm rim for this 160 pounder is the magic mix.

Before we collectively started using the word 'gravel' to describe our rides, Rivendell, was already well down the path of adventure and exploration on dirt roads, developing product like the Ruffy Tuffy to withstand the wear and tear normal tires face when the roads get dirty. It is the gold standard in pave/dirt road riding with 1000's of miles put on my pair.

Very solid tire, better traction than you'd expect from a pattern with minimal rolling resistance. Wanted this type of construction, e.g. Kevlar belt, for my daughter's bike to better protect against goathead thorns, opted to add tuffy liners as well. No more issues thus far-and happy enough with those on her bike to where I bought a set for my commuter bike as well. Very happy with this well-built tire.

Ruffy Tuffys are durable and nice riding, but are not worth the extra price compared to Panaracer Pasela PTs, IMHO. Too bad that BTD does not sell the Rivendell Rolly Pollys, which are similar but lighter weight and apparently nicer riding. My Rolly Polly 28s actually weigh more than my Pasela PT 32s, and the Paselas ride nicer and cost about [$] less per tire. That said, the Ruffy Tuffys might be the perfect choice if you don't have room for larger tires and want something bullet proof.

Those treated me exceptionally well in a 162 miles of gravel road in Minnesota.
Fast, strong and not that heavy.

I put these tires on prior to a 3100 mile ride from Butte, MT to Anchorage and Fairbanks (and part way back). No flats, and they're still going strong nine months later with over 5600 miles on them. I will just keep going on them until they look worn. Incredible tires!

I replaced the Panaracer tires on our tandem with these on the recommendation of some friends. I love them. They roll well and are secure in corners. They stick better than the Gatorskins that I tried previously.

I bought these to replace some Panaracer paselas. The paselas were not the tourguard. I had a lot of flats with them, they picked up a lot of thorns. other than that I was pretty happy with them, they rode nice and seemed fairly durable. I have only had the ruffy tuffy's on the bike for about 10 rides, no flats yet. They were very easy to mount. I think the ride is a little 'sharper' than the paselas, I seem to feel the bumps a little more, nothing bad. I use them on a salsa casseroll to commute and also for my dirt road rides. They seem to be holding up so far.

I have the 28c tires. Overall these are decent tires but are quite slow compared to gators in the same size. I will say that I ride them in NYC, usually Central Park, and have not flatted in over 200 miles and that is good for me.

I commute across town 80 miles a week. Ride includes city streets, canals and sidewalks. Tires have been tough with no flats yet. They ride good and don't feel too heavy like other tires I have used.

price was right and they installed nicely. only one ride on them so far, but they felt good.

For years I've bike commuted in Seattle, and for years I've managed to get by with either old race tires or cheapo tires that work fine...when they're not flat. I finally threw down the $$$ for these tires and wish I had done it a long time ago. I compared these with the Specialized Armadillo and some Contis for some time but opted for these.
These are not small tires at 28 mm wide so don't mistake them for "skinny" by any means. That being said, they rock and they're bullet proof...at least so far. Not necessarily as comfy of a ride as some of the higher end Continentals which I've also run and do like but if you want a tire that is reliable and of good quality, I would highly recommend them.

Ditto with the previous reviewer. These tires are by far the best I've had for commuting and touring. They ride very smooth and are very puncture resistant. I had similiar experiences as the previous reviewer with finding glass and other debries in the tire, but never penetrating to the tube. Went over a year and 3000 miles without a flat. By far better than any other tire. Some very durable tires out there don't have a smooth ride, these are the best of both. I'll be replacing them finally because they have eventually lost enough rubber and become more prone to punctures. My only gripe would be the tan sidewall, but really who cares when they work so well.

I rode Ruffy Tuffy tires on my LiteSpeed Blue Ridge from San Diego to St Augustine, over 3200 miles. I had no flats unlike some fellow riders who had over 10 flats each on their slick tires. We rode everything from smooth interstate to some gosh-awful thing in Texas that was truly more trench than road. I was able to dig glass, thorns, a pierced earring and debris out of the tread and used Super Glue to seal those holes. I'm training on my trusty steed for another month-long ride and those same tires are still so comfortable. I'm ordering a new pair today for my August excursion in the NW US, but I am betting my present tires will still be in pretty good shape.
