Does Everything Well. My current go to tire.

I've used maxxis tires for all of my gravel events. The Reaver is the sweet spot of fast rolling on tarmac and enough tread in most gravel conditions for a fast paced ride. I've not had a single puncture* or flat while set up tubeless since the Reaver debuted last year. I rode 40mm tires for Indiana's 100 mile Dust Bowl loose and dusty route with 160 turns. No issues. This year, new bike with greater clearance has allowed larger tires so I'm going with the 45mm. I began to see wear on the back tire after about 1000 miles on 65% rough Illinois farm roads and 35% I'd call "driveway gravel" and crushed stone rail trails. They handled the limited mud & sand I've encountered just fine. But, don't have the experience of long stretches of each or sharp rocky terrain of Unbound. The weight is slightly heavier than some others, but value and durability is better than higher priced tires. I will be buying these again. Would like to see a slightly wider option too.

My current go to Gravel tire.

I've always had really good luck with Maxxis tires, I've run both the Ramblers and Receptors for different events. The Ramblers were where I started, really good if a bit heavy and slower on the tarmac. I tried the Receptors for 85% of my summer training is on farm roads, I liked them but they wear too quickly. The Reaver hit the sweet spot! Felt lighter and faster on tarmac, but still plenty grippy on Midwest gravel. Did the Indiana Dust Bowl on these last year, over 160 turns on loose dusty gravel. Fantastic.

Thank you for your feedback.

Seems fairly fast

Good all rounder- Tread pattern like an ASPEN - weight is decent, rolls ok on pavement - holds up well no punctures yet. Great price when you catch a sale. Will 100% be keeping these in my tire cabinet.

Thank you for your feedback.

wears quickly

The good: I wanted a fast rolling tire and this definitely rolls quickly. It was intended for champagne gravel, road rides, and road rides to champagne gravel. Over their short life, these tires saw about 60/40 pavement versus gravel.

Why I gave it such a low score: After just 400 miles, the rear tire was worn smooth and the front tire was visibly worn. I rotated the tires and after approximately another 250 miles, both tires are worn smooth. How smooth? I'd ride my bike up and down the halls at work and when new, they made a cool vrrrrrp sound as the little treads rolled across the laminate floors. Now they make absolutely no sound. They look like fat roadie tires.

Thank you for your feedback.

Pretty solid gravel tire

Pretty solid on gravel and low rolling resistance on pavement. I bought the 45s, and they measure 45.3mm on my Bontrager Aeolus Pro 37 wheels. Would definitely recommend.

A Modest Improvement Over the Rambler

Although BicycleRollingResistence.com measured the Reaver as only marginally faster than the Rambler despite Maxxis' claims, I could definitely feel the difference on tarmac. It simply rolled smoother and quieter with the reduced center tread. It also felt like it spun up a little quicker even though weights were about the same. Once on chunky gravel, however, I can't say that I noticed any perceptible improvement. I will race it soon and see if it gives me wings. I paid close to full price as I am often an "early adapter" and I bit on the Maxxis hype. I would wait for a better sale if you are in the market for some new meats.

Thank you for your feedback.

Nice Tire

Great tire for dry hardpack, very good for dry loose. No chance to try them in the mud, but I don't think they'll be worth a damn there.

Light, so far good puncture resistance and fast. Mounted up super easy.

Improvement over the Rambler on asphalt

Underwhelming at first, but once scrubbed in they seems to glide over asphalt with less effort than Ramblers, which were previously my favorite tire. The minimum pressure recommended, even at the 45mm width, is 35 PSI; a little hard for chunky gravel, but not a bad compromise for mixed surface riding.

Thank you for your feedback.

I like it!

I usually run a 2.1 ThunderBurt which I like a lot. I wanted a tire that was better on mixed surface and smoother gravel. This is it. Great road manners! I still prefer the TB's for rougher gravel/single track.......even though I haven't used them since mounting these.

Fast but tough

Easiest tubeless install of any tire yet, popped right on and sealed right away. Have ridden on loose over hard, chunk, pavement, and mud and it's been spectacular on all but the mud. Great product, great buying experience.

Mini Aspens

Went with the 40mm on 303s wheels which netted a 41mm width.

Rides like a mix between a pathfinder and a Ravager. Smooth enough center tread to carry speed, and enough shoulder to keep you upright in the corners. My new go to tire.

Thank you for your feedback.

Nice, quick gravel tire and light to boot.

Lightweight, fast rolling and, so far, reliable tire for medium gravel. Haven't tried in mud but that's not what I ride anyway.

Solid tire. Good grip and not too heavy.

Solid wheel for all my gravel needs. Good grip and not too heavy. Will buy it again when I wear this one out.

Great race & light/medium gravel tire

I was previously on Gravelking SK's in 38. I have way more confidence cornering on gravel with these. Marginally better bite when climbing as well. Smooth rolling on pavement. I got one flat after chunking a very large rock at about 20mph. The tire bit on my rim and flatted while running tubeless. However, I don't think it has anything to do with durability rather than user error. All around a great choice.
