II keep buying the Forekaster tires because they are great for my type of riding. I am a XC rider, but do love flowy downhills and technical trails. These tires hook up nicely on the downhill and roll well. I only gave it 4 stars for value because tires are too expensive these days.

E-bike use

I had been using Rekon Race front and rear for my XC race bike. It was fast, but loose and the tires didn't last all that long. I switched it up to Forecaster front and Rekon rear. A little more rolling resistance, but damn I LOVE the combination! So much better in the loose kitty litter of Buff Creek and on the other local trails. The Forecaster was hard to find in stock elsewhere, but BikeTiresDirect delivered as always!

The new Forekaster is a good all around tire, though I prefer it for use on the front of a light trail bike. It is a bit costly as most Maxxis tires are. Mounted on 30mm ID rims the 2.40WT measures almost exactly 2.3". The 2.6 measures 2.5". For a wide front tire the 2.6 works better for my style of initiating and holding turns. Neither are too round a profile.

This tire really does rip up hills. Once you point the bike down, you still have loads of confidence with this tire.

I use this on my LT trail bike (Stumpy EVO) for the local XC and BDiamond tech trails, works just fine. When I travel to more knarley MTB destinations I swap to downhill tire.

Using this as a rear tire on my hardtail. The tread pattern provides predictable traction in most conditions, especially compared to the previous version of the Forekaster. Highly recommend!
