I was always looking to buy Lake shoes but never found them in bike shops. I did the research and determined I need a shoe that had a wider fit than the brands I have used in the past. The X-Wide Lake fit the bill and the price on BikeTiresDirect had them for I price I could live with. It is a high quality shoe and since I've been using them I suffer no more discomfort. On hot days I normally would get "hot foot" or a bit of a burning sensation on the sole of my foot. They are used for road rides, typically 25-50 miles although I'm confident my comfort would extend into longer mileage.

i tried a few different cycling shoes with boa closures before ordering these shoes. One major concern was the way the boa anchors attached to the supper. These shoes feature hard plastic anchors rather than small elastic anchors sewn onto the upper. The elastic stretches over time and the thread they used breaks easily. In my case, the last and the toe box of this model are wide enough for my bunions and surgically repaired ankle / foot. I know shoes might not be the most glamorous piece of cycling equipment but if they fit poorly they will cause foot pain, or numbness. After seven hundred KMs they simply do their job very well and they show no signs of wear. I suppose I should buy a second pair while they are still being made.
