I ride 90% of the time on aspalt and this tire really performs. I have increased my comfortable riding gear to a higher gear since it has so much less resistance. The other 10% of the time I ride in dirt and gravel. I have not had it slip or spin out going up pretty steep dirt paths. If it were any steeper I would be walking. So I would rate it pretty high on the dirt. Gravel is always knid of tricky, I do not trust any tire going downhill into a turn. I have not sliped yet but I do not push it to the edge on gravel. I also think that it is a cool looking tire. My friends think it is a great blend of speed performance with the functionality of the knobby when you need it.

Good all around tire for moderate to hardpack terrain.

Use these on a electric bike where the surface is sometimes sand. Works well for both road & sand.

Great product for the price. It was the perfect balance between a tire for trail use and one for road use. The turns feel very stable on dirt roads yet the bike is quick on the road.

Great tire for hard pack trail and paved roads. Smooth and comfortable ride. Due to the wide area of the tire touching the road, you have a good grip on the road. I did not have any issues riding on wet conditions or rain.

I bought these tires to replace my knobbies. I commute to work 4 to 5 days a week 10 miles round trip. I fill them to minimum requirement(40psi). Very comfortable. I did a 60 mile ride and outside of a flat i got the ride was comfortable. They are prone to flats but if you use slime i'm sure it will help. I dont use slime yet but I plan on using it in the near future. I've put at least 1000 miles on these tires and they're hold up as expected with very little wear & tear.

I bought these, because I needed road tires for my mountain bike. I was towing a trailer around andor riding on streets, to get to my favorite trails, and I just got sick of the off-road tires, on the road.
These things are fast on the the road. Not road bike fast, but very, very noticably faster than off-road tires.
Offroad, they are great on hard pack, and generally pretty good on everything else. We've had a drought in Texas, for as long as I have had these, so I can't comment on mud, but loose sand and gravel, medium to large rocks, steep downhill, dried up creek beds, winding single-track, Jeep trails, whatever - I keep up with everyone, no problem.
The ONE area they really fall short, is long, steep climbs, on loose surfaces. I lose traction faster than my buddies. Every time it happens, they lose traction too, so it's not a huge difference, but I'd say they generally get about 50-100 feet further up the hill than I do, when it happens. These are STEEP climbs, the kind where you try to carry as much momentum into the hill as you can, and you pick your line and gear perfectly, and still never quite make it to the top, regardless of tire choice. You know the ones.
Lately, I have been riding exclusively off-road, and got on here to look for new tires to try, but the more I think about it, the more I think I will stick with these. I love them, and you get a little bit of extra bragging rights when you ride on them, because everyone thinks you must be some kind of mountain biking GOD to handle the technical stuff on slicks.
Leaving them all behind, when you get to some fast hard-pack is nice too. -)
One pinch flat. Can't recall the details, but there were hundreds of worry-free miles before and after.

I switched to this tire for my front and rear. I commute to Newark NJ from Staten Island Via Manhattan 5 days a week. I've had these tires for 2 years now and only one flat tire.

I just ride a couple times a week. The tires i had on before were alright. But,I wanted something with a little less resistance.I'm extremely pleased with the performance of these tires. I didn't expect to get such great tires for a cheap price. thanks!

I can only think of two tires in this category. Kenda kross and Continental Travel Contact. Kenda Cross is half the price but you give up a bit of quality, a smidge of rolling resistance and a lot of flat resistance. Both are the perfect -front- tire for onoff tar touring. I would give the travel Contact a 54.

I've put about 500 miles on my Kenda Kross Plus. I'm 6'4 tall, and weigh 245lbs. I use this tire daily for Urban abuse. My bike is a single-speed coaster with a 4321 ratio. And, I cruise at 70 beat cadence for an hour at a time in Texas heat. Not one flat. (Xs fingers) If you want a tire you can afford to beat up, buy these.

Bought a set of these last year to replace my off road tires for commuting to work. I gained 3 mph with the smoother rolling tires. Good traction and the wear is minimal as I have put just under 1000 miles on them so far and they show very little wear. They are a great asphalt and concrete tire, and handle dust and dirt just fine. I can even take them on the local trails with no issues, but I would not take them on the off road trails, just smooth park trails.

I ride a Diamondback comfort bike mostly on road with some gravel sections. Love the performance of the tire, especially the speed. I had broken the bead on the back tire&40K-905-005&41by jumping over a cement curb. My original Kenda tire was made of thicker rubber while the same replaced tire was very flimsy because of the thin thickness of rubber. Can I not get the better grade tire or is this the standard for new tires.I'm worried about wear and blowouts now.

i have used these before and they are great. after about 1,000 miles i got new tires. they are fun to use on the trails and slid in corners. off road is fun, not the best traction for fast acceleration but fun to slid them around corners on dirt trails.

I am a weekend warrior type and I do both road and dirt trail riding with my Diamondback Response MTB. I wanted a low-cost tire that would have low roll resistance and still function well on trails.
Here in Florida the off road trails can be very sandy in places and I am very pleased with the Kenda Kross' performance. The "shoulders" of the tread keep the bike stable in sandy patches and reduce fishtailing. They have so far help up well on rooty eroded hard trail parts as well.
The low roll resistance of the center tread has made a very noticeable improvement on the road. Just what I wanted and a value price.

I've had a pair of these on my Specialized Hardrock Sport MTB for the last 3 years, and have been nothing but completely pleased with their durability and performance. I do a lot of bike trails pavement, dirt, and back woods and on the pavement the tires glide and corner very well, feels like a road bike. On the trails they are just as good at handling the different terrain and trail conditions with the mix of mountain tread and need for speed.

It was hard geting use to the bald rubber on the road. Its a cool tire. My speed is out of control. I had to get new brakes.

This is a terrific hybrid Street Mountain Tire if you often ride on the city streets as well as on the dirt
