Inexpensive 26 MTB Road Tire that is acceptable off-road. Not the best road tire due to the weight, which is under 600 grams. Not the best trail tire because of the smooth center tread. Works great of you want to have one tire that does everything.

i switched out some mtb knobs for these to ride on hard pack semi smooth trails. so far they react as expected
good rolling resistance
good grip in sand and other loose stuff.
even at full 65 psi they feel comfortable
for the price they cannot be beat. planning a c&o canal trip in a few weeks, we will see how they do there.

I use these on a second set of rims when I am not on mountain single track. For hard pack trails these are great and make you fly like the wind (really). I got about 1500 miles out of the rear on highly abrasive cinder and decomposed granite before the sipes split to reveal the cords. I even used them on some easy single track and they were fine as long as you allowed for the lack of traction compared to the big knobbies. Two thumbs up!

I bought these cause I wanted a smoother tire but yet still wanting the stability of a mtn bike tire. It is great combination of off road on road. I didn't know what to expect because they were still a wide tire with lots of friction and thinking could I still catch up with everybody else in the group who have road bike or hybrid? They are just fine, a good choiice. I like the fact that the smooth part of the tire is a bit raised so the whole tire is not totally touching the ground, which gives it the smooth ride. Feel. The sides have the knobbies so they are good for cornering. I don,t do bike centuries at all, about 14-22 miles is all I can do but I coordinate local stuff around Boston so these are treat tires, once and a while I will go in a state park to ride the dirt trails. These tires hold.
I was camping labor day weekend and rode my bike on rt 202 looking for a trail no one knew existed. I stopped at an ice cream shop and the 12 year old that was there was impressed with these tires, he asked about them for his bike and if was what he was looking for, so I told him about the website. A good price too.

I was looking for a tire to replace the knobbies on my MTB that I ride almost exclusively on road. Based on the reviews I read here, I bought the Kenda Kross. I can't say enough good things about them, they totally transformed the feel of the bike. After about ten feet of pedaling, I felt like I was on an entirely different bike.
They roll nice and smooth, and are quiet! Big change from riding onroad with knobbies. What I like about these is that while the crown of the tire is essentially a slick, it has the tread and knobbies on the side. Alot of the riding I do is near beaches, and thus the road can get very sandy. I was reluctant to go with a slick tire because I was afraid of losing traction or washing out in turns, but no such concerns with this tire. I've hit many sand patches with them so far, and once the side knobs dig in they track straight and true. I also noticed that due to the smoother rolling and less resistance as compared to knobbies, I've gained a few mph in my cruising speed, and added almost 3mph to my top end down a particular hill. They also corner very well, I think due to the angle of the side knobs. It appears that as you lean the bike over, the full face of the knob comes in contact with the road, not just an edge. It makes for very confident cornering. Plus they look cool. I'm not gonna lie, I hate the look of a slick on a MTB. At fisrt glance these appear to be regular knobbies, so you still keep that rugged, mtb look.
I will say that it's not impossible to get these to wash out. I was cornering hard on a transition from a paved to sandygravel road, and the front DID get a bit squirelly for a second. However, it was easy to correct, and I didn't lose it or go down. I think it was my own fault for pushing it and overcooking the turn. I'm sure that if I were on a regular slick and took that same turn, I'd have washed out and gone flying. The Kross gave me just enough warning to slow down before I went down.
I'm 100% happy with these tires, for the price you can't go wrong. Plus BTD has been great to deal with so far, I actually just placed another order with them for tires for my other bike.

As stated in heading, the tread pattern on these tires turned my mtn bike into a very safe and comfortable street exercise bike. The price was great too. Now we'll see how long they'll last. Looks promising after about 250 miles.

Washes out in deep sand with 60psi,it may do better at lower pressures. I mostly ride hard pack and pavement. On the sandy two track trails, I ride the middle grass to prevent washouts. Great tire!

.......they will take some getting used too. Great for hard dry surfaces but even braking takes some adjustment, you're going to go further than what you may have done in the past with a more normal MTB tire. WetDamp surfaces and plan way ahead, not dangerous but one needs to adapt to them. Smooth rolling and fast, no hand numbing subtle vibrations like MTB tires usually have. Have over 1,700 miles of suburban riding so far this year and they still lookact new. Put over 3,000 on a pair last year, given to a neighbor and they're still rolling smoothly along. Great value for they're intended use

The tires fit on my thin MB rims perfectly and provide a smooth ride. Very satisfied with the product and the pricing!

I have a 15 year old Trek MTB that has been great over the years but always left the knobs on even as I have mostly used it on road. I bike 15 miles to work most days of the week and the Kenda K847 Kross Plus have improved the performance and speed for this use. I commute on the back roads of a rural community so at times not on the most bike friendly area and these tires give me the road smoothness with the need traction safety for riding in the gravel when needed. Also no problems with punctures so far.

These tires are noticeably faster on dry surfaces . I really hated removing them. My problem is rain, slippery wood on my green way, and sometimes after a big rain, a fine creamy mud appears on the slippery wood...Last week i met the mud and didn't fare well. But honestly no tire unless studded could have saved me and I was only going 5 or 6 miles an hour. I am sure i will reinstall these tires..they are that fast and most of all they are quiet riding.

Well, I just ordered them today so will get back to everybody on how they are. I have a mountain bike Schwinn and find myself lagging behind everyone on a bike ride esp. uphill. I ride on asphalt and dirt roads in state parks. I will put middle rating and then upgrade when I use them.

Most of my riding is on the street or paved trails with limited time in the dirt. So far these tires have worked great. The ride is smooth and grip solid, even in corners. I finally got away from the dirt tires I have run for years on my 20 year old mountain bike. These tires make it feel like a new ride.

So, I originally purchased these tires (August '06) to replace 15 yr old dry rotted, original tires on my MTB. They got me into the cycling scene to the point where I am now out on road bikes as much as possible. I didn't notice any problems with the tires back then. Lately, I have decided to commute to work so I wanted to go with the old MTB (cro-mo steel, no suspension) for durability. The extra weight is a good workout too!
Well, these tires SLIP! Going up dry pavement-slippage. Trying to climb up a steep dirt pond bank-more slippage. I have little confidence in these tires and am also nervous around corners. I will keep these as a spare, but I need some more traction. Love the price tho.

I ride a mountain bike on pavement 99% of the time, the only time I end up in dirt or gravel is during turns...but what if I decide to do a little off-pavement riding? These tires, I think, would be up to the challenge. I feel very secure riding with these tires, they have good grip in turns but very little rolling resistance otherwise. While I have put less than 100 miles on the tires since I installed them, they look perfect and with reasonable care I expect them to be as durable as some other reviewers have reported in their own experience.
I purchased these tires as a Daily Special here at BTD, and by the time the discounts, offers, etc. were applied I think I paid around $11.00 for each tire (I bought 4)...I feel they would have been worth it at twice the price. And when I next purchase tires I will get these Kenda Kross Plus tires, even if they are twice the price!

Are you tired of getting dusted on a group ride? Then buy one of these, actually buy two, and use one for a spare. Then put it on your rear wheel. You will instantly notice that your bike is going faster.
Never mind the slick part, the tire still can climb loomy or hard pack trails.
I see and most others who use these, that you will be about 10-25% FASTER on the trail and even faster on asphalt. Just make sure you have knobbies up front for steering through dirt.
