I have this helmet in both white and black. Both were purchased months apart during a Gold Member promotion. I first purchased the helmet for the spherical, multi-level, rotational protection design. The numerous air vents keeps you cool, especially for those heavy sweater. It is very lightweight and I hardly notice I'm wearing it.
I recommend this helmet for its spherical, rotational design, its protection, and its ability to keep you cool.

I had a previous spherical helmet for a few years and decided to get a new one. Then I crashed (I'm told). The old helmet took a big hit and absorbed the impact rather than me, saving me from serious injury. This is the type of real-world 'testing' you never want to perform. I got my new Aries helmet the next day.
The new helmet fits well. The fit adjustment works well and easily, maintaining the right setting. It stays in place over my glasses. I usually run hot, so ventilation is very important for me. While it hasn't been super-hot yet, the Aries has kept me cool so far for extended hill climbs in upper 80F temperatures. I ride most days, so these factors are important considerations for a helmet. The only minor quibble is that my mountain bike helmet has a Fidlock buckle which is much easier and more convenient than the traditional "squeeze" buckle on the Aries, but this is very minor.
I haven't done an engineering analysis, but spherical technology makes sense to me. I can't say that no other helmet would have protected me, but there is no denying that the previous one did.
As usual, good prices and delivery from BikeTiresDirect.

I bought the Aries as a replacement for one of my Giro Aether helmets which were the top of the line prior to Aries. The big difference in my mind is that the Aether is slightly wider (mushroom) shape as compared to the Aries. I like the way the Aries sits on my head and in my opinion makes my face/head seem slimmer. It if wasn't for the slimmer shape I would have been fine with my Aether. I currently own a Black and a Sharskin version of the Aries and a White Aether which I hope to replace at some point as well. Maybe xMas or Bday present from family. The Roc Loc 5 system is easy to use, comfortable and helps secure the helmet firmly on my head. I have only owned Giro helmets over the years so I guess I am biased, but other than price on the newer versions I am extremely satisfied with the quality and durability.

I love this helmet. The fit is awesome and it is really comfortable. The safety is top notch too. Unfortunately, I was involved in a bad accident, but the helmet did its job and prevented further injuries. That's also how I know Giro has a really nice crash replacement warranty too.

This helmet is very comfortable and lightweight. It has good ventilation. I've had to retire a few helmets because of crashes, so the number one safety rating was very important. The only thing I dislike is that it doesn't have a magnetic chin strap clasp.

I didn't realize how bad my helmet was until I replaced it with this one. The fit is very comfortable. It feels secure and the lock system has a nice gradient. Airflow is very good. It holds all of my sunglasses (100%, Limar, Ekoi) securely no matter how I'm riding. The padding is very soft and absorbs pretty well. I'm a heavy sweater so this was important to me. I have no complaints.

I'm on my 12th generation of Giro helmets. This is by far the best, most comfortable I've owned. My only 'crash' is with a 9th generation/first gen MIPS. So, fortunately I can't attest to the crashworthiness of the Aries. But given the testing that has been affirmed to, I'm confident of the protection being as good as it was with Gen9 !
Anyhow, I found the strap design, weight, texture, and placement to be more comfortable. And the head 'cocoon' feels really light.
I can't compare this to other brands because I've never tried one that feels as good. I always end up with Giro. You really have to try any helmet on...head shapes differ and different brands accommodate.
With that, I appreciate the generous return/exchange policy of BTD. While I've not had to use it, knowing it's available makes online purchases more comfortable (as well).

Just got my Giro Aries Spherical MIPS Road Helmet and couldn't be happier with it! This was my first time trying the Aries model, and I have to say ' it exceeded expectations.
Fit & Comfort:
Right out of the box, the fit was spot-on. The helmet is incredibly light and well-ventilated, which made a noticeable difference on long rides. The retention system keeps everything secure without pressure points, and the padding feels premium.
Safety & Tech:
The Spherical MIPS system gives me peace of mind. It's great knowing I've got that extra layer of protection without sacrificing comfort or weight. Giro nailed it here ' it's impressive how advanced the protection is without adding bulk.
Style & Build:
Looks sleek, feels high-end, and the build quality is top-notch. You can tell a lot of thought went into the design.
Deal & Purchase:
I picked it up from BikeTiresDirect at a great price, and the shipping was fast and hassle-free. They had one of the best deals I could find anywhere, and I'll definitely shop with them again.

I used the helmet for one year before the crash and it was perfect for fit, comfort, and breathability.
I landed on my back, and the back of my head immediately whiplashed onto the pavement hard with so loud a sound I thought the helmet would be trashed. While there are four markings on the helmet from the impact, it wasn't destroyed as expected.
Most importantly, I didn't get a concussion. I had a crash three years ago that involved a bad concussion, and you don't ever want to get one trust me. I could not believe how softly the impact was on my head, especially considering I cracked a rib.
For me, the choice is clear. The helmet must have Spherical Tech. I bought an Eclipse to replace the Aries for my road riding and will continue to use the Aries for gravel because it doesn't appear to be compromised.
There are other helmets that I think look way cooler, and I wish the Eclipse didn't look so heinously Martian Domed. I had just bought a Utopia Y on backorder, then right after the crash canceled the order and bought an Eclipse. Funny how priorities can change in a NY minute.

As with most "Premium Product" lines today, it is a bit pricey; otherwise, I have no complaints with the performance or fit. I've worn pretty much all the recent helmet offerings from Fox, POC, Kask, Bell, and Oakley. This Giro is nicer than every one of them (and it's a brand new model, so I expect that it should be...) and the fit is fantastic.
The RocLoc is a real treat, nicer than some of the previous versions, like the Aether and such. I went with the matte shark, which is a lovely primer-ish grey, and the old hot rodder in me appreciates the variety of colors we can get these days. I have a metallic pink Time road bike, so I'd never find a helmet that matches it. I wear either black or grey Sidi road shoes, so the appearance is perfect for me. If you're into race team fanning, they have a few of those colors, too.
As far as protection goes, I aim not to test that, though the last massive crash I had, a mountain crash that left me with a concussion and some significant injuries, was in a Giro, and while that helmet broke in 7 places, it stayed together, and kept me from worse injury. I keep it on my bike wall as a reminder that I'm actually mortal.
BL - Great product, great fit and finish, feels like a bandanna on my head, and the vents work great. Bike Tires Direct has a great price and IN STOCK (which is no small thing right now..)
Nothing else to say is there?

I bought this helmet to replace an aging Giro Synthe II helmet. The Giro Aries helmet fits my head better, is better ventilated, has a better impact safety design & rating (see Virginia Tech safety website). Because of the better ventilation, I feel that the helmet is somewhat "cooler" than my old Synthe II. I live at 35 degree North latitude & summers are hot, humid and windy. My riding routes are lumpy and between 25 & 35 miles long. The Aries helmet does a okay job at trying to direct sweat away from my brow but sweat still runs down onto my glasses.
If you have a round head this helmet may not be a good fit for you. I think this is a very good helmet and may be worth the asking price. It certainly is for me. Keep turning the cranks! ??

I own (2) Giro Aether Helmets. One in Black and one in White as well as many retired previous versions. The Aether model are good helmets and I will continue to use them for now. I have been wanting a Giro Aires for some time, but the price did not make it practical. I finally decided to get the Sharkskin Aries gray version when it went on sale recently. In my opinion the Aires is the best Giro helmet so far. It is not as wide as previous versions with great venting and wraps around the top of my head much better. I like the Aires styling over all previous Giro helmets. I will probably buy some other colors when the price drops as the next version is introduced.

I recently purchased the Giro Aries Spherical MIPS Road Helmet in matte black, size medium, and I'm thrilled with its performance. The sizing is true to size, fitting my head perfectly without any guesswork. The helmet is incredibly comfortable, with soft padding that doesn't irritate even on longer rides. The head adjustment system is intuitive and secure, allowing for a snug, customized fit that stays in place.
Visually, the matte black finish looks sleek and stylish, avoiding the bulky appearance some helmets have. It doesn't make my head feel or look large, which is a big plus for aesthetics. Most importantly, the helmet feels safe, with the Spherical MIPS technology providing confidence in its protective capabilities. Overall, this is a fantastic helmet that balances comfort, fit, style, and safety perfectly. Highly recommend!

I recently purchased a matte black Giro bicycle helmet, and I'm absolutely thrilled with it! The sleek, minimalist design looks sharp and modern, making it a standout on the road. The fit is spot-on, with Giro's adjustable ROC LOC system providing a secure, comfortable feel without any pressure points, even on long rides. It's lightweight yet feels incredibly sturdy, offering peace of mind with its top-notch safety features. The ventilation is fantastic'plenty of airflow to keep me cool during intense rides. The matte finish is not only stylish, but also resists scratches and smudges. Whether you're a casual rider or a serious cyclist, this Giro helmet is a perfect blend of form, function, and safety. Highly recommend!

Overall, I really wanted to like this Helmet. So much so I brought two different sizes and neither worked for my head. I first tried the Large. Though the ratchetting system locked down around my head, it was far too deep which required me to either keep is sitting high and hover over my head or sit right on top of my eye brows. I returned and tried the medium, which had the perfect dept but was just 1 cm too tight.

Best I've found (but haven't tried many other high end helmets) for fit weight and comfort. Usually wear small, but small is too tight over winter head gear. This is a med and works well as a winter helmet. Recommended.

Would have gotten an Aries Spherical in a black and fluorescent yellow or orange combo if it had been available NOT in a team color design, for added safety/visibility. However, once I received the Matte White Charcoal Rush version with the dark gray graphics around the rim, I found it provided very good visibility on the road, and looked kind of cool.

My only dislike was the thin back neck plastic that bites into your neck if you are follicle challenged or do not wear a cap to cover it. Once I realized that you could reposition the back neck plastic it became much more bearable. Helmet looks cool, it's light and now pretty comfy. No problem with shades in the vents falling out.
