I originally picked up this helmet for dealing better with very hot time trials. Found it works great to give much needed bit of ventilation. Even with the visor attached there is a great flow of air across the head. Found that this helmet makes a great wet/cold weather helmet as well. Less ventilation is huge when the temps dive and the rain starts falling. Add to this the coverage of the shield is a winner when the streets are wet as even with my Smiths a lot of spray got around the edges of the glasses.

The more I ride with this helmet the more I am liking it. It feels super light, and so far breaths very well. But let's get to the point, everyone interested in this helmet wants to know about the visor. For starters it opens up the field of view drastically, especially when in the aero bars. I no longer have to look through the top rim of my glasses. I love that feature! Also, the magnets so far seem strong enough. I have no complaints about the connection to the helmet either in the up or down position. I do however, have two complaints and this is why I did not rate it at five stars. One, Giro, please give us a mirror somewhere on the visor. Losing my mirror decreases my awareness when on the road with other drivers. Two, the vents on the visor work maybe, too well. When descending downhill in cooler air temperatures the airflow through the vents and from underneath the visor tear up my eyes thus decreasing my vision. This is a safety factor when cruising at higher speeds. I'd love to see more color options with the visor, and perhaps a higher dollar version that has a mirror. Other than those two gripes, I really like the helmet and am sure most people will too.

I really like this helmet. It is comfortable . The visor is functional but does not reduce wind noise as expected. However, to be fair, that is not the visor's intended function. I do like that I can wear my prescription glasses under the visor with no problem. I have not tried other eye wear such as my Oakley Jawbones under the visor. I do find that I need to push the helmet forward a little to cover my eyesglasses. It feels odd for a few minutes then I forget about it. I do like the ventilation in cooler weather but early tests suggest this puppy may be a little warm for climbing unless at cooler temps. I went on a North Carolina climbing trip a couple of weeks ago and opted to take my Ionos instead. I get a lot of compliments on the Attack helmet. I don't think I will use it much in the coming warm months but will re-press it into use more in Fall and Winter. Great helmet, love the visor and cooler temp air flow. However, YMMV on it's use in warmer temps or while climbing. I got a great price on BTD!

The shield replaced a big dorky home-made brim for me. It does a better job of shading my eyes and is a lot more aero. The limited number of holes compared to most helmets is totally not a problem. Sometimes I am particularly aware of a cool breeze circulating through. I haven't dropped the shield yet, but that is a concern. If I were redesigning it I would use a center pivot in place of the center magnet and just rotate it around my roll axis. I bought the silver and white version for maximum solar reflection, but next time I will probably get black because it's so much better looking.

I bought this for spectacle protection in rain - nothing to do with aero (although I do race and in wind I do feel less buffet with this helmet). I figured a wet muddy visor is better to see through than wet muddy spectacles.
However it rains so little here I have had little chance to use it in anger. With the little experience I have had, it has worked really well.
It is nicely light and generally comfortable (but see 2 below)
It vents surprisingly well - I have never felt overheated.
It looks great IMO however it does have has a slightly radical 'space helmet' appearance. When used in anything other than a race and especially when on a more upright bike, expect to get a few second looks!
Two things I dont like
1) it comes standard with a dark visor. I would have preferred to have had the option of a clear lens for low light/night use
2) the leading edge of the helmet is lower than a regular helmet so to see past it when in the drops my head has to be crinked back further than I would normally and more than I would prefer. Having a chronic neck injury, I couldnt tolerate this position for extended periods such as in a longer race.

This a great helmet with a great design. I love the visor and how it's held on by magnets. The only thing I don't like about it is that it can run a bit pricey, so do what I did and buy it when it's on sale on btd.

I liked the helmet and will purchase the helmet without the shield when the price drops and the color I like is available.

This is a great product for those of us that don't maintain a perfect aero position or who battle occasional cross-winds (uh, all of us?!).

If you really need an Aero helmet this is the one to get.Be prepared to miss the air flow that you might get some drag on from your old helmet. I made a wise choice for a white color helmet, less heat on my head. I did have a warm muggy day for my maiden voyage. I may have gotten a bit more speed on the downhill but I lost it all and than some on the climbs. Without a fan in this helmet you will be dripping sweat all over the plce. I think I will love it in the winter months and you might want to use visor in the Winter for additional protection but I thought it was useless in the warm weather, almost defeats the use of aero helmet entirely by the blowback from the sheild. You will want to clip the visor on upside down which most people do because its cool. Wear glasses and get a helmet with holes, you will appreciate it more if its warm out. Giro makes great stuff and the quality and worksmanship is no different hear. Maybe its me but I'm saving it for Winter, no way for a race day!!!

I got this helmet from BTD for a great price. I even found the price dropped after my order and customer service gave me a refund for the difference. The helmet is one of the best fitting I've worn and I love the shield. The fouro yellow is great for early morning low light rides.

I purchased the helmet to provide me with a helmet for triathlon events. With the magnet based glasses I don't need to worry about glasses and in the drops I have less obstructions to sight the road. The helmet is just fine.

I've wanted an Air Attack Shield since I read the first reviews on the helmet. It sounded like just what I was looking for my endurance racing - primarily 12 and 24 hour events. But the price was a little more than I wanted to spend so I waited for a good sale price. In the meantime, several of my riding buddies bought the helmet and convinced me that it was a good helmet. The price finally came to the tipping point and I bought it. I have not been disappointed by the helmet. One concern was cooling during hot rides. I have not used it on a really hot day but on moderately hot days (85F) it kept my head cool.

Because I perspire heavily on climbs, I was getting tired of sweat dripping down my glasses. In looking for an alternative, I found this helmet. With the removable lens, I can flip it away from my eyes while climbing, then replace. Works extremely well for me.
Also, it vents (air flow over my scalp and hair) far better than anticipated.

A very forgiving aero helmet that remains aero, no matter your head position. Well vented to keep you cool on the hot days.

Once you get over how dorky you look wearing a bicycling helmet, you settle in and appreciate how many nanoseconds this shaves off your TT.
It fits your noggin well with the single strap and roc-lock dial. The best part is the integrated magnetic visor- you'll enjoy exceptionally clear vision (uninterrupted by sunglasses frames) while in a full tuck when on the drops. Don't be fooled by the lack of vents, it is surprisingly cool and has ample ventilation for those hirsute cyclists.
I found the black rubber protective stuff on the nose piece was a bit distracting, so I scraped it off. I love it, and knocked a star off due to the high price.

I got this for a great price. I've been wanting the Air Attack Shield for a while.
This is a nicely designed helmet. I was concerned with cooling capability living in humid Houston. So far, it has been just as cool as my Bell that has large cooling vents. Of course, I haven't experienced summer with the helmet. But on a recent 80F hot day, it felt like it had sufficient ventilation.

There's been a lot of chatter and some disparaging remarks about the looks of these things, but they're the best product available for certain riding conditions. If it's windy or less than eighty degrees, this is your gal.......period. If you have any doubts, borrow one and take it out in a good cross-wind You'll discard the comments about how goofy it looks pretty quickly.
On the other hand, the ventilation doesn't really work if you don't hold better than 20mph so it sucks for long or frequent climbs. It's like your wheels Use the right equipment for the right conditions. There is no good all in one solution.

It's so beautiful and useful, I bought 2. BTW, clear visor should be the default visor.
