I upgraded because my left pedal wasn't connecting and staying connected consistently. I must have been an issue with the pedal itself and not the pods because upgrading didn't fix the issue. It was better, but not 100%. Also, since these hang off the bottom of the pedal I was worried about snapping off one of the pods - well of course I did. Long story short - just spend the money and get the generation 3 pedals without the pods or some other power meter. These would be good if you V1 work and you use them on your indoor trainer
The upper half of the coupling split during installation of the small retaining bolt. I was careful and used a light hand with the provided hex wrench, yet the coupling split. BTD advised me to contact Garmin directly about what to do next and I will update this review at the conclusion of my efforts.
I broke one pod of the old version that I was using. Bought to replace the broken and also upgrade at the same time. I'd buy it even if I didn't break my old pods, and install them and use the old pods for a backup.
