Easy to use and keeps your screen clean

I have Di2 hidden buttons on the tops of my shifters, but they are sometimes hard to press to send signals to my Garmin Edge head unit. I moved this remote from my backup bike with mechanical shifting to my Di2 bike. I use this remote more than my Di2 hidden buttons now. It's easy to use in the winter with full-finger gloves. And in the summer, it helps keep from smudging the screen from sticky, greasy, or sweaty bare fingers. I have an old short YouTube video that shows how I mounted it on the handlebar drop and ease of changing screens. My first remote was about 5-years old when the rubber that covers one button cracked. I enjoyed the remote so much that I recently bought a replacement.

Thank you for your feedback.

It just works!

I'd been eyeing this for a few years. Background: When I ride on really cold days (30s-40s) I need to wear double gloves to keep my hands warm. So the Garmin touch screen doesn't work all that well. Some of my gloves won't work the screen even with a single layer.

So I asked for this remote for Christmas. Got a chance to try it last weekend, and it just WORKS. No fuss, easy pairing, click the button and the screen pages.

Also useful on those super-steep loose gravel grunt-up-it hills I have in my nbd. Don't really want to take my hands off the bars, but I might want to page to my heartrate or power output. Easy to do with this remote. Kinda pricey, but it does what it's designed to do.

Thank you for your feedback.

Useful to keep your hands in the right place on your mountain bike

This works great to switch pages while out riding with wide bars that you can't take your hands from. I especially like being able to set up a long-press of the action button to take you to the map, so you can quickly switch to see where to go when coming up on an intersection. This is most useful for mountain bikes. With road riding I find your hands are closer to the head unit most of the time, and it's easier to swipe between pages.

This comes with one sturdy clamp-type mount and one rubber-band quick attach mount. I'd love to get more of the clamp type mounts to make it easy to pop the remote out and switch between bikes, but it seems like the clamp alone has been discontinued.

Thank you for your feedback.

Great addition to the cockpit

Great addition to the cockpit - keep your fingers on the handlebar instead of swiping the Garmin.

Excellent remote-must have on those long hill climbs

I have had the Garmin remote for almost two years now and I am very happy that I bought it. I have paired it with my Edge 1000 and it is a very stable connection. I have multiple devices connected to my Edge (independent speedcadence sensors and this remote while running live track), I think that it is a must have on those long climbs where you are ascending in 8% or steeper while both hands firmly on the bars. I have a few data screens that I page through on these long climbs. It is also safer when traveling at high speeds and you need both hands on the bar. It is also more precise when paging as compared to the swiping on the screen of the Edge does not always equate to the same number of pages change on the Edge, however the input from the remote is very accurate in the number of pages changed.

I would buy it again if it ever fails.

Thank you for your feedback.

Easy To Use Without Thinking Or Looking

This was a replacement for the one I misplaced in my utility room which was a replacement for the one I lost on the road because I didnt clip it in correctly. Theres a lesson in there somewhere about carelessness. It says something, too, about how much I value an easy way to flip pages and manage laps on a Garmin head unit without taking my hands off the bars; worth the price and brief time it takes to install.

Thank you for your feedback.

An Argument for the Garmin Edge Remote

When the weather gets cooler the touch screen on my Garmin Edge becomes more of a hinderance than a feature. I can never find the right gloves that will keep my hand warm while cycling and will also work well with my Garmin Edge touch screen. As a consequence, each time I want to change the screen on my Garmin Edge I have to stop and take off my glove.

Then I got the Garmin Edge Remote Control. This little 3-button Edge mounts on my handlebars and uses ANT+ wireless connectivity to scroll through the pages of my Garmin Edge bicycle computer. I can also mark laps and program the third button to a function of my choosing from a list of preset functions. Although space on my handlebars is scarce, this little device has earned a spot and is well worth the space.

I can recommend this product.

Thank you for your feedback.

Not as useful as Di2 controls but still handy

Ive been using Di2 shifters to control my Garmin 520 and thought Id grab this to have similar functionality with my CX & mountain bikes.

With Di2 you can set separate functions for click, double click, and hold and you have options to control lights as well as the Garmin. This doesnt assign double click actions and youre pretty limited to what it can do. If all three buttons were programmable Id give it 5 stars.

For my needs this is great though. Makes marking laps during a cx race or crit simple. Im sure Ill love it in winter when I can change pages while wearing heavy gloves or mittens.

Thank you for your feedback.

Nice little gadget but...

I really really wanted to love this little gadget but just didn't stay connected. Always said connected and would work maybe once or twice after pressing a button but that was about it. After that it would not work. Try many times to un-pair and pair. But always short lived. Bummer because if it would work it would have been great to flip through the screens without taking your hands of the bar. But got too frustrating so returned it.

Thank you for your feedback.

Great device to help you scroll thru screens

Easy set up. Allows me to scroll through screens using my thumb without taking my hands off the bars instead of pressing buttons on the side of my 530.

Makes Riding Easier

So I have the Garmin 1030 and my friend has the 1000 and we're out climbing hills. I'm trying to swipe to my hill climbing page and struggling a little bit. My friend is just smiling at me. So I say, What? He tells me and shows me his little Garmin Edge Remote. So I'm sold and I get one and it's awesome. It's like one of those things you don't need, but once you have it you will never go back. It's kind of like tube shifters and break shifters, sure tube shifters will work, but why, if you can have break shifters. So I put my Garmin Edge Remote on the side of my break-handle where it's easy to reach and operator while riding. Simply click it to change the screen, which is much easier than swiping.

Thank you for your feedback.

Great addition to the Garmin team

Great addition to the Garmin setup, especially for those climbs where swiping to get to the tight info can be treacherous.

Great for easy changes of data screens and keeping smudge off the screen

I use the remote with my Garmin Edge 820. I enjoy the ability to change data screens without removing my hands from the handlebar. The remote also allows me to startstop rides, start a lap, and to do all without putting streaks or smudges on the face of the 820. That's almost impossible to avoid with sweaty fingers when changing screens by swiping across the face of the 820. Streaks and smudges make it more difficult to read the screen. You can see my 315 video on YouTube on mounting on my road bike and screen response. Be sure to read my follow-up comments on the video. I recommend the remote and would buy it again.

Nice but really pricey!

I really like the ability to change pages and startstop the timer from the drops but I think its priced high for what it is. Start getting the high tech stuff and its just one of those extras to complete the package. I mounted mine inboard on right hood and its easy to reach from drops but will see. should be a part of the Garmin Bundle on the applicable GPS units

A safety feature that works flawlessly with your Garmin Edge computer

I purchased this to use with my Garmin Edge 1000 computer . . . I have to say, it works as expected. I'm told that its only a matter of time before Garmin provides coding to Shimano to make the button live found on the hood of the Shimano Di2 hoods - this would eliminate the need for this little gem. For now, I'm a happy user of the Garmin Edge Remote. I'm easily able to scroll through my Garmin Edge 1000 screens without taking my hands off the handlebars. The Edge Remote even features a customizable button!!!!

Not ready for prime time

I have had nothing but trouble with this remote. It does not work for the most part. I paired it with my Edge 810 that is up to date on updates. It works as designed with no other devices paired.

However, when I get to the bike and ready to ride, I have three more devices paired - Garmin 2S pedal, heart rate sensor, and Garmin Connect on my cell phone for LiveTrack. The Edge remote will not remain paired. I have disabledenabled and no luck. When it is not working, it gives a ID of 65535. I sent Garmin a support question and their reply was essentially it should work if paired. They also stated that the 65535 ID is invalid. No kidding! So what is the problem? Is it a defective unit?

Until I get this resolved, I cannot recommend this unit to pair with a Garmin 810 computer.

Thank you for your feedback.

Works as advertised, though quirky to set up.

It took about four attempts to get it paired with my 820, despite doing the exact same thing each time. Once it did pair, it works perfectly and makes for safer & more convenient riding by not having to take hand off the hoods to switch screens.
