I have been riding for many years. Strictly a clincher guy, and I have found this tire to be a great ride.
Very durable, comfortable, and lasts a long time. Does not cut easily.
Also, and I agree, others have said the GP4000 descends very well.
I would easily recommend this tire.

Usual conti durability with the option to get reflective sidewall. not as durable as gatorskins, though.

I tried my first pair of Continental GP 4000 tires for my Southern Trans this past September 2017. I had been a Continental Gator Skin user as those tires are very durable but ride quite stiff and are not the easiest tire to get off your rims especially if your hands are cold.
I also reduced the air pressure to 90 F and 90 R based on advice from Lon Haldeman, Pac Tour Master.
So with the GP4000 at this TP the ride was very smooth, didn't feel any softness when climbing, and road surface absorption was excellent. Rode 1500 miles over 14 ride days and no flats.

This is a great tire for dual use as a racer and every day tire. Still the King of rolling resistance in my view.

Low rolling resistance, great race tire.

The GP 4K SII's are benchmark tires for many reasons they're fast, supple, grippy, puncture resistant. I've trained and raced on these for several years in the wet, dry, cold, heat, and they never disappoint. Not the kings of wear resistance but, considering how well they perform, it's worth the trade-off. Sorry...you can't have it all... at least for now. Oh, and they're definitely not the cheapest. That said, you're worth it and BTD typically has great pricing on GP SII's. If you're like me and consider the fact that your tires are the only meaningful connection between you and the road, and you'd like to keep it that way, they're worth it and deserve a hard look if you want a great all-around tire.

You really need to purchase a pair of these beauties and ride them to appreciate them. I use these for all rides as they are fast and they are also dependable. Tread life out performs all other tires that I have tried.

Solid tire, all I use.

Love these tires. Low rolling resistance. Good handling feel. So far (knock on wood) reliable - have about 1,000 miles on them. No punctures. No damage. Fast. Efficient. Worth the price.

For my racing (mostly long distance triathlon) I really like these tires because
-they're resistant to road hazards
-they're light weight
-they're comfortable to ride
-they're quick to change if needed

I have used Cintinental tire for ever and the 4000 S II are the best clinchers on the market. Plus biketiresdirect makes them very affordable.

i have been using the GP4000S and SII for a number of years. I consistently get over 10K miles on a tire (new tire goes on front and when back wears out front goes to back and new tire on front). Tires ride great on varied asphalt surfaces.

Continental tyres are by far the best I have ridden on. This is an easy assessment - I have been riding for 50 years and have ridden over 500,000 miles...many miles on different tyre makes. No contest Continental Grand Prix 4000 (and 'All Season') have out performed all of the others. I ride on them, I race on them - it's proven to be the 'failsafe' choice for me. It's highly unlikely I will change.

is very responsive tire.
rarely flat with it, resistant to punctures.
Has good road feel and not slippery in wet conditions.

I like that they're lightweight, handle well, and offer a high level of durability. The price is a little high for me, but you definitely can tell they're high quality. To save a little money, in the winter I switch to Michelins. They're a little more durable, IMO. Of course, the Continental Gatorskins have them all beat for durability, but the Grand Prix 4000 offer the best balance of performance and durability I've found. I highly recommend them.

These are my go-to road tires, both for everydaytraining and racing Road and TT (for crits I use Michelins they're stickier). Good traction, long-lasting, and pretty easy to seat in a rim compared to what they were just a couple of years ago (no way are my hands stronger than they were).
Occasionally there will be a questionable spot after X number of rides where something has left its mark in the tire, but I've had nothing that affects cornering, ride quality, or flatting-resistance. Almost everything, and again, there are few issues, is superficial and does not go through to the tube. These tires are not soft enough to have grit embedded after each ride like some others (Bontrager R3s, for instance), but are soft enough to not give a harsh ride.
Most of the bikes at races this year sport these tires, I noticed, including the guys that are faster than me (I looked at their tires trying to find any excuse I could use for not winning).

Good tire with good performance and puncture resistance.
