I now have 6 pairs of these shorts. I initially bought (3) 3XL, which is not an option at BTD. Since then I lost some weight and decided to purchase the 2XL as the 3XL felt a bit loose. Castelli runs small so make sure to upsize. The shorts are comfortable and well made for the price. The leg grippers feel fine to me, even though after slipping the shorts on I snap the grippers in place as the internal stripped gripper bands don't necessary lay perfectly flat immediately. The padding is also fine for me as I am a daily rider of usually 20 miles (solo) and occasionally 40 miles when riding with friends. Overall these are my favorite shorts as they fit my body well and you barely notice your wearing them. Since I ride every day I appreciate a good name brand short at a competitive price.
As the title says, I'm getting leg blisters because of the gripper, recommended only for short rides like for 1 or 2 hours of riding. Giving 2 stars for good quality fabric because if the fabric aint good I'm only giving 1 star.
Good fabtic that holds up to hundreds of washes. They run a size small, so order up. The dados very good, not great. I use as a MTB liner on 40 mile rides and roads for 60-80 miles.a little sore, but ok.
Been using Castelli for years. One psir so old it is getting a bit thin but hasnt torn. The Competizione are nice. Wide band at leg opening so no gripper sicone that chafes. Size up one from normal.
Regarding sizing, Im 5-11 and 155 lbs, and tried both medium and large sizes. The medium was uncomfortably snug, so Im using a large, which is very comfortable, though maybe slightly large for me. But Im a casual rider and I dont like super tight shorts.
