This jacket is undersold by Castelli as for moderate conditions. A close competitor to Rapha's pro team insulated jacket, and even more expensive, it earns its keep with an elastic, breathable outer layer which not only makes this jacket more comfortable it also affords much better protection against the elements. The Rapha outer has no stretch, which along with a super tight fit makes it very tricky to avoid damaging it when taking it off and on. Of course both jackets have polartec alpha insulation which is brilliant for providing warmth while shedding moisture. Both jackets can go much lower in temperature than you would expect from the weight of these garments, but the Rapha is really for only dry conditions. So the Castelli costs more but is worth it due to the better shell.
