Largest tires that would still fit on Kona Rove to and still allow some mud clearance. Great for rough roads and trails that you might normally just tackle with a MTB.

My cyclocross bike was too unstable in the heavy sand we see on West Coast trails. This tire was the solution. Great stability. My cross bike now feels like a mountain bike. And, no wheel slip,
Warning This tire is HUGE, so check your tire clearance.

I got a new custom touring bike this spring 2015, and have been running these tires on a half dozen different bike camping trips. Terrain has been about 15% dirt dry fire road, with a few pretty rocky sections, in the Sierra Nevada and CA coast ranges. The Rock and Roads hit the middle ground excellently... they tackle the dirt stuff, and do not feel draggy on the road. No flats to date.
$50 bux ain't cheap, but they have been peace of mind trouble free I don't worry about what the road condition might be like, so for me that's well worth it on remote tours. I'm buying my 2nd pair.

I got this tire in a 700c to use exclusively on dirt trails and it is fantastic. It measured true to size which is a bit unfortunate because it is slightly too large for my rear change stays. It still makes a great front tire, drives well into corners and eats up bumps. It's very usable on gravel but if you're doing any distance it's a bit heavy so I would consider it overkill.
