The jacket I got was last year's model which is only a zipper angle change at the neck so not at all an issue to me considering the near 50% savings in price for this incredible piece. This is why the value rating is an absolute steal.
I'm 6'2" and 165# with a 43" chest and 34" waist. I initially bought a large and it was indeed a tight race fit. Standing upright was not comfortable and reaching the rear pockets was difficult. I was testing wearing a 3/3 base layer. It was considerably more comfortable in the riding position. I was conflicted whereas I only had on the base layer and might need to add something more. I talked to Bike Tires Direct about it and they sent me the XL to compare and told me to send back whichever one didn't fit the best, or both if I wanted to bail. The XL fits much better in the shoulders and chest, but is a tad over generous in the waist. While still somewhat restrictive reaching around to the rear pockets standing, its design in the riding position makes grabbing that gel mindless. There's enough room now to add a long sleeve jersey to the base layer if need-be.
As far as keeping you warm there can't be much of anything better out there. This gives back everything you put into it. Too much and it goes out the well designed shoulder vents. Out on casual rides the wind proofing qualities and layered construction provide ample warmth. As you heat up you can as usual pull down the zipper from the top, but also not as common to pull it up from the bottom which is really a nice feature. It makes managing your core temperature easier when doing hard efforts and such. You don't wind up getting all soaked with sweat on one segment and then supercooled on the next. This is just an impressive piece of tech. It's more remarkable each time out.
I wholeheartedly recommend grabbing one of these for next season, especially on sale. Far warmer than say a Girodana AV Extreme (and the Assos is easier to vent). No fuss service here too.
