All roads leads to the need for greater comfort and control

Zipp's solution to the challenge of mixed terrain rides is the Service Course SL 70 XPLR. The bar's name exemplifies the desire to explore the world with an expanded definition of cycling on a drop-bar bicycle - from paved roads onto gravel, mud, dirt, and even single track.

Crafted from lightweight and tough 7050 aluminum, Service Course SL 70 XPLR help you go faster by placing your body, starting with your hands, in an optimal comfort zone position for hours of rough riding.

Today's riders demand a few things out of their cockpit, whether they are doing a two-hour training ride or a 200+-mile gravel adventure: comfort, control, and the ability to carry what they need. Zipp met these needs by creating a bar with shallow and wide drops, specifically focusing on two crucial metrics - outsweep and flare.

On a modern all-road bike a highly flared bar causes the brake hoods to be laid over toward their sides, creating ergonomic issues when riding on the brake hoods. Zipp'ss design team sought to develop a new-generation all-road bar for the hoods-dominant position favored by riders today, with the drops optimized for control in high-speed gnarly situations when the hammer drops.

After extensive research and testing, its design team pinpointed a construction with an ideal 5° flare and 11° outsweep. The bar's drop shape features popular 70mm reach, but the drop is a shallower 115mm. The result is improved comfort and control.

The 70 XPLR also features an ergonomic top with an extended 100mm clamping area for computer mounts, aero-extensions, bags, Di2® bar end junction compatibility and whatever else you may need for the long haul.

Nice bar for my gravel bike.

I replaced the bar on my gravel bike to get a wider bar. Went from 42 cm to 44 cm. The reach, drop, and flare provide a great fit.

Goldilocks Gravel Bar

I swapped these bars out with my OEM Ritchey Comp bar on my new ti gravel bike. I actually prefer them compared to the Easton EC 70 Carbon bars I have on my other gravel rig. Yes, they are slightly heavier (about 50 grams), but for me, way more comfortable. The flare is there, but at 11 degrees, much less pronounced than the Easton. Shifters are able to be placed without flaring out, which improves ergonomics and comfort. Lastly, flattened top section adds to the comfort quotient. At BTD pricing, these bars are about half the price of carbon bars. As far as the 50 or so gram weight penalty, I will do my best to lose 50 grams of weight before my next ride to make up the difference )

Good handlebars

Upgrade from my stock bars. Not too much flare on them exactly whats I was looking for more control on gravel while in drops I like the top bar how it sweeps back

Great gravel bar

The Zipp Service Course bar is a very comfortable upgrade for my gravel bike. I bought it for the slight sweep, which has proven very comfortable for my wrists while riding the hoods.
