Description

Vredestein's Flagship Gravel Tire

Vredestein has jumped in on the gravel tire craze with the introduction of the Aventura — an attractive-looking, fast-rolling 700c tire for less technical terrain.

The Dutch tire giant engineered the tubeless-ready Aventura with a supple 120TPI construction and their top-spec SuperLite casing (which is common among their cross-country MTB tires). The tread pattern on the Aventuras was inspired by their XC-race MTB tires.

The Aventura tread pattern is made of trefoil knobs (triangle shaped) that get taller and more widely spaced as you move out from the center of the tire. This design is intended to provide a good balance of cornering and braking grip along with a smooth transition as you lean into loose-over-hard gravel turns.

Vredestein used a triple compound rubber in making this tire. This allows for softer shoulders on the tread but still a hard and grippy center tread.

A third supportive rubber layer is implemented under the center of the tread that keeps it fast-rolling & puncture-resistant.

Features

  • Tubeless-Ready
  • 120TPI construction
  • SuperLite casing
  • Trefoil knobs on the tread
  • Triple compund rubber used for added puncture protection
  • Attractive tan sidewall

Showed promise briefly, but failed all too quick.

Tires were fairly easy to mount and bead up. As I rolled out on the first ride they felt great. Fast on the pavement and then good grip and supple when I hit the gravel and dirt. Then 12 miles into the first ride I punctured the rear, apparently a rock cut the tire between the tread. Big enough cut that it would not seal up completely, but was able to limp home stopping several times to add air. Continued to run the front for several hundred miles before it too punctured. The tires showed a lot of promise regarding the feel and the rolling resistance, but considering the price and the fact that I got basically no wear out of them, I was very disappointed. Tried contacting Vredestein but seemed impossible to find a way to do so for bicycle tires.

Great tires for dry gravel

Very nice gravel tires that are true to size and quite supple. Still havent gotten a flat on these despite some rocky conditions and even some singletrack where I was the only non-mtb. Set up tuneless easily and hold air fairly well. They look good too. I will be mounting them on new wheels with wider internal so will be curious to see if they plump up to bigger than 44mm.
