Description

Time's Enduro-Focused Pedals Deliver Traction and Stability Over Rough Terrain

The Speciale 8 Pedals from Time are an enduro-focused pedal built using a slightly larger aluminum body, compared to a pared-down XC pedal, for more foot stability over demanding terrain. And to add even more grip to softer enduro and DH soled shoes while unclipped, the pedal has 4 adjustable spikes. Like the rest of the Time lineup, it has a micro-adjustable clamping system, allowing for easier or more secure release tension depending on the riding conditions and personal preference.

Another familiar Time feature is its proprietary ATAC engagement system or Auto Tension Adjustment Concept. ATAC technology makes clipping in and out much easier and it's made in 2 movements: engaging the cleat in the front gate, and stepping downward. This allows for easy insertion and positive, predictable release, as well as a self-cleaning design, even in the muddiest conditions.

Features:

  • Time's enduro pedal built with adjustability and durability
  • Steel axle and aluminum body handle the hits
  • ATAC dual-arch retention system provides positive entry and release
  • 4 adjustable pins add grip against shoe's sole
  • The release angle is adjustable between 13 or 17-degrees via a reversible cleat
  • +/- 5-degrees of lateral float (6-millimeters) keeps knees happy
  • Aluminum body construction, steel spindle and bearings
  • Time ATAC cleat set included with pedal purchase
  • Compatible with 2-bolt style mountain bike hole pattern
  • Recommended use: enduro, trail
  • Available in black and orange color options
  • Weight: 464g

    Solid tough pedals

I've used Time pedals since like 1823 (give or take a few years). They've always been reliable and have the float that has kept my knees happy for the last 198 years of hard riding (again, I'm a little fuzzy on the exact dates). After the first couple generations of the Equipe (the original Time road pedals), which were aluminum and tough as heck, Time experimented with a bunch of different composites and carbon, with varying degrees of success in the bodies. The axles and connecting hardware has always been solid but some of the bodies since the original models were more, let's say, less robust than the original reference standard and nothing like the first alu Atac pedals, which were also great. After running the Atac 6s and the Atac 12s for the last 10 years, I wanted a bigger foot platform (and float, of course) - which led me to the Speciale 8s They are a return to the solid days - they are built like trucks, not super light, but when you're 20 miles out in the coast range by yourself and semi-lost, you want equipment that won't let you down. I've probably ridden 300 - 500 miles of PNW-style forest roads (rough, cranky, unforgiving) on these pedals, and an equal number on the road, and they just keep going. I love my Time carbon road pedals, but when you're throwing up gravel and rocks and hard things that you prefer not to know about, the Speciales are the way to go. They'll get take you out and bring you back. And anodized copper is the best color in the world.

    Trail bike pedals.

Needed a Time pattern cleat so my mtb shoes will work with more than one bike. Had I not already had Time ATAC pedals on my gravel bike I would have purchased the LOOK equivalent. I swore by Time through the 90s but the company burned me with their iclic pedals. I had one of my five pair break the first time I used them. Time warranty department said it was a KNOWN defect but refused to send a call tag and made me pay $10 per pair (for all five pair) for the warranty work plus shipping. Needless to say, I now have five pair of LOOK KEO pedals on my road bikes with no issues.

Easy entry and larger platform than most pedals

TIME ATAC easiest platform for me to clip into. Great when having to stop frequently for commuting year-round and if walk in muddy areas, pedals don't get clogged up and still able to engage easily.
