The Atom is the lightest and fastest tire in Hutchinson's Road Tubeless lineup. Road Tubeless tires have been gaining massive popularity thanks to their ability to perform safely at low pressures without pinch flatting. The ability to run low pressures allows the tire to roll over imperfections in the road surface without deflecting and wasting precious energy and speed. The supple 127 TPI casing furthers the tires ability to roll over road imperfections and also helps ward off flats. The bead is made from unidirectional carbon rather than Kevlar for a more robust structure that can't stretch as much to resist coming off the rim or bottoming out at lower pressure. Even with its light weight the Atom has exceptional grip and Kevlar flat resistance. Hutchinson recommends using plastic tire levers with no sharp edges to prevent tire damage during mounting or removal. Must be used with a special rim designed for a tubeless road tire. Color: Black. Size 700c x 23mm (23-622 ISO). 285 grams.

Very satisfied with these tires
Use these for road riding and for time trials. They mount fairly easily and have good road feel. I run 105 rear and 95 front. ( 170 lb rider). I love that getting a flat is now a rare occasion. Very happy with these tires. I am on my second set of them. Not cheap, but worth the money

Good tire....
I had been using Bontragers R3's, but switched to the Atom's for several reasons. They do seem slick at first out of the box, but after 100 miles or so on them, they felt much tackier. I like the ride feel-as good or better than the R3's.

Fast, reliable, great road feel
I rode tubulars for more than 30 years before upgrading my steel-frame road bike with newer DuraAce equipment, including C24 tubeless-ready wheels. I've been riding the C24s with Atom tubeless tires for 3 years now, and love them. Some reviews describe the Atom's ride as harsh. My term is lively. Overall, the ride and the feel are as close to tubulars as I've found. The rear tire wears out (flattened center of the tire) after around 3,000 miles, but the front goes much further. I rode one rear tire until the center tread was completely worn through in spots, but I don't recommend that.
I've only had two flats in 3 years. When I tried to put in a tube to get me home, I found it very difficult to fit the tire onto the C24 with the tube inside. It was just too tight a fit. Called home for a ride that day. Now I carry extra Hutchinson sealant just in case.

fast and reliable
I have these tires on a steel Pinarello Opera with Fulcrum racing 0 2-way fit wheels. I could not be more satified. Riding on chip seal no longer makes my hand numb. These tires are fantastic confidence builders in the corners. Flats are a thing of the past - don't even carry a spare. I did get a flat when I hit a box of nails that must have fallen out of a truck. The tire still lost air slowly and I rode 5 miles on the flat tire. They do not come off the rim. Mounting is not nearly as difficult as some people claim. I wish that I could afford to change my other 2 bikes over to road tubeless wheelsets.

Goathead? What's a goathead?
Tubeless is the way to go. Light, supple and virtually flat free. I flatted twice in about 4000 miles on Hutchison Fusions and Atoms. First was a cut to the cords that finally gave out but was still able to ride home before the tire went completely flat. The second time I hit something that punched a 14 inch hole in the tire. I was able to put a tire patch on the inside of the first tire but the hole in the second was too big and the patch blew through when inflated.
Now they just need to come out with a studded tubeless tire so I don't have to fix flats in the winter any more.
Service from BikeTiresDirect is great by the way. I contacted them about problems with a tire that wouldn't seat properly and one email later they called it defective and sent me a replacement. It was the right call and as painless as could be expected under the circumstances.

Tubeless is the way to go
Although slightly higher priced than regular clincher tires tubeless tireswheels are well worth the investment due to their smoother rolling at much lower pressure (85-90psi). The Hutchinson Atom Tubeless tires were the first tubeless tires I purchased after buying Shimano Ultegra Tubeless wheels. I ride them primarily for training purposes and have found the tires to hold up well in all weather conditions. The tires will never pinch flat. I filled them with stans during installation and it fills most small holes. I was able to ride the front for 2,000 miles and the rear 1,000 miles before replacing them.

Fast on my dura ace wheels BUT, for races only. Training miles caused flats
I got a new set of Dura ace wheels and the shop I do business with suggested the tire....it was the only Hutchinson tire that they stocked at the time. Training miles in rural Missouri send you over a lot of road debris and I found myself stranded on the side of the road with flat after flat. However when I put that wheelset aside with the atom tire,I was able to get through the rest of the season's races without a problem...They are very fast and made for racing only.
Buy the Intensives for training....my shop stocks both now!

Over 3,000 miles. Not one flat, well not any punctures anyway.
I rotated the tires once. I became so trusting of the tires that I quit checking the wear but then one day I finally wore through the cord and the tire gave out. I started to lose pressure and the Caffelatex was spewing out but I managed to ride for another 30 minutes (with moderate pressure) before I thought it was best I stop and put in a tube (to get me home). The only drawback is that the latex is really nasty when it covers the back of your bike and the face of your riding buddy (he was drafting me at the time the tire let go), but the amazing thing is that the tire did not lose air suddenly. Great tire! I Just ordered another set.

Light and fast
If you are running a tubeless setup, these tires are great. Leave the Fusion 3's for someone else. Very light, very fast. They are far narrower than 23's - more like 21's - but they corner well. These are the only tires I will race on.

1 year on Hutchinson Atom Tubeless Road tires
After 8 flats in 4 months on bontragers, I tried these tires. Not one flat in 12 months. I ride mainly concrete bike trails, with some asphalt country roads. 7,000 miles in 12 months, 2 front tires, 4 rear tires, 1000 miles on 4th rear tire now. Average 3500 miles on fronts, 2000 on rears. Fine handling, though I do not race or push cornering limits. I run 90 psi, down from 100-105 on tube tires (210 pounds). Very comfortable ride at 90 psi. I ride 2 hours per day in good weather. These tires drop 10 psi each day, I fill them each ride. I am happy with them because I bought 5 in the off season at reduced sale prices. They are more difficult to inflate and I have needed my bike shop's help. It seems that Stan's no seal tape works better than the bontrager rimstrip inserts that I started out using. Good Tires.
