Campy's Pro-Tech Bottom Bracket Goes As Hard As You Do
The bottom bracket is often the unsung workhorse of a groupset, tasked with keeping things running smoothly under the burden of stress, grit, grime, and moisture. In Campagnolo's quest for the ultimate in efficiency and longevity, they created the Ekar Pro-Tech system: a gravel-specific bottom bracket design borne out of Campagnolo Ultra-Torque technology.
Pro-Tech's two integrated semi-axles meet at a central Hirth joint where self-aligning teeth create a positive, balanced drive, increase efficiency and save weight, while large BB bearings run smoothly inside the crank. It's all protected by a patented externally sealing ring and strong fiberglass-polyamide tube that resist harmful ingress of water, mud and grit degrade BB performance.
Classically road-oriented Campagnolo elevates the modern gravel scene with its first ever gravel-specific 1x13 Ekar mechanical groupset. Positioned between Chorus and Centaur, Ekar was conceived as a singular groupset rather than a hierarchical series. With Ekar 1x13, Campy comes out of the gate swinging with the lightest claimed 1x gravel groupset in its class.
