Great commuter

I commuted four years past construction on south waterfront on one pair. These tires were amazing. No flats. I am only replacing them now (5000) miles because of many large pieces of glass embedded in the tire. The only other thing is the ride quality is a little more harsh than before - I rode at 80 psi during the last few months( I also got a full suspension MTB so I may be inclined to plush now).

Thank you for your feedback.

Great grip and ride quality in a well made tire.

This tire is Supreme! I have ridden this company's products before and this is by far their most comfortable tire. Ride quality is excellent and it grips well in the rain. The reflective sidewall is great with disc brake bikes, since they stay free of brake dust. Just a really well made tire. So far I have about 600 miles on them in everything from asphalt to gravel with no flats or complaints.

Thank you for your feedback.

Great construction and durability. I'll buy these again.

I've used Schwalb Tires for 10 years. They last and last, all the while giving you reliable puncture protection and a solid ride. Thanks.

Supple, smooth rolling, and no problems 350 miles in.

Good stopping power in the wet, supple, smooth rolling, and no problems 350 miles in. The reflective sidewall is a great option with discs breaks in urban environments. Easy to mount.

Expensive but worth it

Use it on a Cannondale Carbon Quick 1 that I ride to work. Roadside can be a little rough with gravel. Have had no troubles with the tire. I like the fact that it can be inflated to 100 psi.

Thank you for your feedback.

My fourth set of Marathon's

I've used three types of Marathon's on three different bikes for several thousand miles each. I commuted on a set of Marathon Plus and liked the durability. They still have some life left after 5000 miles and flatted only once. They are heavy and have more tread than a pavement-only tire needs.

I wore out a set of Marathon Slicks (no longer made) on a touring bike. They weren't as durable as the Plus' but were stressed by a heavy touring load. Still a heavy tire similar to the Plus but without the tread.

This set of Marathon Supremes will go on my touring bike to replace the Slicks. I wore out a set of Bontrager Hard Case on my present commuter and am currently using Marathon Supremes. So far the Supremes are wearing better and flatting less than the Hard Cases. The only flat on the Supreme has been a small piece of wire, probably from a steel belted radial car tire. The Supremes are less than half the weight of the pluses, 430 grams vs 890 grams (700X35) and still very tough.

Occasionally I deflate the tires and inspect them for debris, squeezing the tire to expose embedded glass, etc. I am always amazed how much stuff is in the rubber but has been stopped by the kevlar belt.

Thank you for your feedback.

Not Cheap - but worth it!

I love these tires. I have them on a bike that I use for commuting and rainy day rides. Although I primarily ride on paved roads, they handle a few treks across dirt. Plenty of grip on wet days, but still fast enough that they don't slow me down. They seem practically indestructible. After thousands of miles, I put on a new set (just because I thought maybe I should, although they weren't really showing any signs of wear). I never find knicks or cuts or embedded glass in them and the tread shows very little signs of wear.

Thank you for your feedback.

Rolls fast, seems durable. Time will tell if it's worth the extra $

I bought this as a transition season tire for my Rivendell touring bike. I've been very happy in the few times I've ridden them. It's a relatively fast rolling 35 mm tire, not hard and sluggish like a Continental Gatorskin that I ownedsold. On a couple of warm winter rides, it performed well through a light layer of packed snow, slush, ice, mud and pavement. The grooves make noise on pavement and although I hate tire noise, it's not bad and worth the trade for wet performance. Time will tell if it's worth the significant expense for performance and flat resistance. I'd give it 5 stars and a higher value rating if these qualities are met.

Thank you for your feedback.

Puncture resistance doesn't compare to Marathon Plus

I had been using the Marathon Plus for almost three years and could count my punctures on one hand. The Marathon Plus's weaknesses are weight and the struggle needed to mount them on a rim. The Marathon Supreme's marketing told me it would solve those two problems with close to the same level of puncture resistance. Oh well... two out of three ain't bad.

They certainly are some of the lightest 28mm touring tires around and they are a piece of cake to mount (especially compared to the Marathon Plus), but their puncture resistance is nothing compared to the Plus. After two rear tire flats in 200 miles, I decided to use the Supreme only on the front wheel and go back to the Plus on the rear. I still like the feel of the bike with this setup. Less mass around the front wheel makes the steering much more nimble but I'm still getting flats much more often than I'd like. Thorns are the bane of these tires. Most have penetrated the bottom of the sidewall but I've had a couple actually go straight through the tread. The Plus would have sent those thorns crying for mercy.

Great at first , gone in a flash . or so it seemed

Upon first glance these tires made me smile.

Easy mount and pressured up i gave them a ride, and they seemed fine.

During their life span i seemed to ride puncture free

beside's a nice nail and and auspiciously placed piece of glass.

after 3 - 4 months it's started to happen multiple rear flats , the tires were junk.

total mileage ruffly 2500-2750 .

75% urban-city riding

cannondale 2011 badboy solo

Much better than I expected!

I have always ridden on 'skinny' tires and never given much thought to anything else until I bought a cyclocross bike. I wanted a tire that I could take onto mountain dirt roads to handle the loose sand better but could still commute to work and ride the normal road climbs without having to fight the extra rolling resistance from a more aggresive tread pattern and without losing to much speed. Without a doubt I am suprised. While they are heavier and it does make it a little more difficult on the climbs the ride quality is better, they roll faster than you would think and the cornering is more sure footed. I bought the 35mm version but would like to try a slightly skinnier version (I'm pretty sure they make a 32mm) since these are a little hard to get through the brakes. 200 miles so far and no flats either.

Thank you for your feedback.

Tough, fast rolling tandem tire

I bought this tire to replace a non-folding Gatorskin on the back of my Co-Motion tandem. The rear tire on any tandem wears at least three or four times as fast as the front due to the weight and torque. While this is not a perfect rear tandem tire (haven't found one yet) and while it might be a few grams heavier than the comparable folding Gatorskin, I've found it rolls every bit as fast. It's definitely more puncture resistant than the Gator. I have had one goathead pierce it in 600 miles whereas by that time, with the previous tire, I'd had several. This tire rides softer than it looks (it looks hard). The reflector strip, while it looks like a bit of a whitewall during the day, is very reflective and pumps up the safety factor. The tread is not noisy at all. I don't know of a better all around rear tandem tire than this one. I've noticed some squaring off after 500 miles but, again, this is on the back of a tandem and to be expected with any tire (unless the stoker is light as a feather). Nice tire.

Thank you for your feedback.

Tough but fast, smooth riding tandem tire

Bought this tire to place on the rear wheel of my Co-Motion tandem. 700c 28. Was getting more than the usual number of puncture (goat head) flats with a Gator with only 700 miles on it and it was time to try something else. The Gator actually got a slice in it as well. This is a whole different tire. Great tandem tire. Smooth, quiet ride. Not jarring. At fast rolling as the Gator, which surprised me. And much more durable. The reflective strip, which originally looked kind of like a white wall to me is amazing reflective on gray days or in the rain. Like any tire on the back wheel of a tandem, it's starting to square off after about 500 miles but this is to be expected due to the torque and weight on the back wheel of a tandem. But no tire is absolutely bombproof, unless you go with rubber that is so thick and hard that the ride really suffers (think, small little animal in Texas, part of it's name rhymes with brillo). I've gotten a goat head puncture with it but the sealant in the tube closed in right up. I'm convinced the goat heads we have here in NM could puncture a metal coffee can. All in all, a really good tire. Should sell for $10 less, though. Buy it on sale. And it's a German company but the tire is not actually made in Germany, which is disappointing.

Thank you for your feedback.

Excellent!

I have used both these and Schwalbe Big Apple tires on my electric bike, which is a Bionx Townie men's bike. Presently I am on Marathon Supremes. The total bike weight conversion is about 65 lbs. Both tires have amazing grip. This Marathon Supreme takes more air pressure (85 lb compared to 55 psi on the Big Apples) and I do get a minimal but definite mileage gain from the higher pressures on this tire, about 6-8%. With a normal 30 mile range on my battery, a reserve of a couple of miles might be huge, depending where I have gotten myself to on a long ride. Both of these two Schwalbes have amazing grip, so much I am constantly scraping my pedals on the inside side of turns. All Schwalbes are tremendous tires, with great puncture protection and durability. I wouldn't ride on anything else.

Tires appearto be very high quality

You can feel and see the quality when mounting the tires. They roll well and give a great ride I don't have may miles on them yet but i anticipate a long life based on the reviews I have read. Reflective stripe is a nice addition to nighttime visibility.
