These tires are set up on my gravel bike, a Raleigh Roker Ltd., mounted on Easton wheels. To date, I have rolled about 200 miles of gravel and dirt road, including numerous stretches of wash board. I have not experienced any cuts or punctures and still see the mold marks on the center of the front tire. They roll fast and have good control for 36mm. I am experimenting with pressure and am currently running them in the low 40s. I am relatively light at 150lbs, so I could probably go lower if needed for compliance or more traction, but on a packed surface and pavement, they roll quite well. I contemplated going to a 40mm tire, but for now am quite satisfied with the 36. Tubeless is the way to go. A good ride and much easier to deal with punctures. I am training for the DK100 (Half Pint) and am planning to use these as my tire of choice
These tyres aren't quite as supple as the 32mm and 40mm 120 tpi MSO tyres, but they still provide a comfortable ride. I run my 36mm MSOs with tubes because I like to change my tyres according to the riding I have planned.
Compared to the 32mm MSOs, the 36mm MSOs are slower on bitumen, grippier and more comfortable on gravel and are much less likely to get pinged around by rocks or sink into sand. Compared to Challenge Gravel Grinder Race tyres, the 36mm MSOs are slower on bitumen and much grippier on gravel.
I expect these tyres to be as durable and puncture resistant as my 32mm and 40mm MSOs.
I will save my Clement X'Plor MSO 36mm tyres for rides where I plan to spend most of my time on rough gravel roads. I'm very glad I bought them.
This is an awesome tire. I upgraded my 700x35 tires on my Breezer commuter bike and the Clement 700x50 just fit. The Clements have a more aggressive tread that is still smooth enough for pavement cycling. The conversion resulted in my bike having more of a 29er feel with less rolling resistance and better traction in all seasons and conditions.
Have used this tire only a couple of times so far. Once on gravel along the canals and once on single track in the desert. Very happy with both applications but the single track was a real surprise. I was running tubes at the time but plan on going tubeless now. Want to see how the flat tire issue improve. Bought the tires on sale so essentially 2 for price of 1.
I switched to these tires for gravel racing and riding this year and have experienced a very dependable and fast rolling advantage! From 1st place Masters at the 200K Texas Chainring Massacre and the 200K Red River Riot, overall victory at the Dirty Fury 3 day, 300 mile gravel stage race, 12th place overall at the 241 mile Day Across Minnesota (DAMn) and as the 2017 Texas State 50 Gravel Champion these tires have performed above and beyond my expectations!
