Though the Race King is designed for speed above all else, Continental still manages to deliver reliable grip over a wide range of conditions. This ProTection model also features the proven Black Chili rubber compound, plus an extremely durable, yet race-ready construction.

The tread structure is built on the amazing Black Chili rubber, with low-profile knobs for an effortless roll on hardpack. The slightly wider spacing offers just enough room to effectively shed mud and hook up in looser conditions.

  • Advanced Black Chili rubber compound with dense particles for speed, grip and durability
  • Tough ProTection casing with 4 fabric plies for a total of 240 TPI
  • Extra fabric ply ensures puncture resistance and sidewall reinforcement over the Race Sport model
  • Folding bead
  • 26 x 2.2 Inch (55-559 ISO)
  • 550 grams
  • Recommended pressure: 50 PSI. Max. pressure: 65 PSI.

No regrets with this purchase.

Took the advise of another reviewer and use a X-King on the front and Race King on the back. I ride a hardtail on mostly aggressive hardpack with plenty of sandrocksroots mixed in. The Race King runs slightly widerfatter at 2.2 than the X-King, but they work great together. As predicted, the rear lacks some grip on very loose dirt and the braking power is not as good as my last tires... but not bad. They grab very well in turns and ride well in sand. I don't ride in the wet.

Made the switch from Scwable Rocket Rons 2.1 with tubes (took 35psi to avoid pinch flats) to tubeless Conti's (27psi) and it has made a HUGE difference in comfort and control. No contest - and the Ron's are pretty good! Never going back to tubes. Very happy with this purchase.

Pretty good tire

Use it on the rear of a tadpole trike to reduce sideways slip in high speed turns and to provide traction in loose dirt or gravel.

Great German quality

This is a well made German tire. It was easy to install on Mavic 26in wheels, rolls fast, rides smooth with little noise on blacktop at 49psi. I have rode about 30 miles.
