They do the job.
Even after upgrading to Continental Ultra Gator Skin tires, I continued to get flats on my daily commute 24 mi round trip especially on winter evenings in the rain when it hardest to spot and avoid road hazards. Rainy winter evenings are also the least fun time to fix a flat.
I researched even more puncture proof tires, such as Specialized Armadillos, but the trade off harsher ride, poorer handling, more difficult to remove from the rim when you got a flat, gave me pause.
At the suggestion of a friend, I decided to try a pair of the Stop Flats Tire Liners. They are easy to put in and they do the trick. Since I put them on my commuter bike two years ago, I have not had a puncture flat, despite 4000 miles of year-round commuting. I did have a compression blow out when In hit one of those metal plates covering an excavation, but no puncture flats.
During this time I have dug impressively big chunks of glass out of my tires, but have had no puncture flats. Before purchasing this product, even with ultra gatorskin tires, I would have a couple of flats each winter.
