The Fortezza Quattro TriComp uses a similar dual-density silica tread compound as on the standard TriComp but with center siping to evacuate water and a diamond pattern on the sides to enhance grip on marginal pavement. Also included on the Quattro TriComp, and new for Vredestein, is the Full Contact Protection feature, which provides bead-to-bead resistance against cuts and punctures.

Great tire I'd say.

Ordered a pair from UK when they first came out a couple years ago - no one in US had them - and no flats on that set or the ones I've bought since. Feels a tad stiffer or more solid than the Fortezza TriComp one of my other faves, but the Quattro handles very well under power and in hard corners. Have used them from 130-135 PSI to 100-105 and it never gets sluggish or slow at any pressure. Also corners well on dry pave - great grip! I don't make a habit of rain rides so I can't say much there, but they're supposed to be good in the wet.

On my scale they weight around 240g, so if you want an uber-light race tire get something else. OTOH, Robbie McEwen won some TdF stages on the Quattro and he didn't seem to mind a few extra grams. ^ If you want an excellent tire, get this.

Great tire - fast, yet grippy in the corners

I ride these tires at 140 psi give or take and have never had any issues with them. I have ridden them in all kinds of conditions heavy rain to very hot and dry and over all kinds of roads smooth, slick asphalt to older worn out roads and have never had any issues. They grip very well in the dry, so much so that I have found myself taking corners faster than I ever did before. I do not push the limits in the rain, but I have never had any issues in wet conditions with these tires.

Tire wear is not bad. I'm 6'5" and 215 pounds, so the rear tire, as you might expect, wears out much faster than the front, around 1,000 - 1,500 miles. The front tires last me much longer, often 4,000 miles or more. They're not quite as durable as resistant to road hazards as the Conti Ultra Gatorskins which I rode before, but I prefer less weight and rolling resistance I need all the help I can get!.

And at $45, I think they're a bargain, and they're a lot better than tires costing much more.

Slippery when wet...

I bought these tires for winter riding mostly rain, here in Seattle. I figured a four season tire would be perfect. Frankly, in the rain, I find these tires frightning, with a very greasy road feel. Not only were they bad going down hill, but they weren't much better on steep climbs, where they would lose traction during the clib.. I'm a smaller rider at 160lb and I've tried a changing tire presures, running anywhere from 105-145 rear, 95-140 front. The lower pressures are better, but still scary. The tire doesn't flat easily, rolls & wears well and works fine in the dry, but in the wet it just didn't work for me.
