The popular Elite road gets a face lift for a tougher, all-season tire. Grooves through tread and diamond tread on shoulders ensures excellent performance in wet weather. Puncture proof ply and tread overlapping onto the sidewall provide excellent flat resistance. 210 tpi.

Tubular Clinchers have all of the advantages of a tubular tire (i.e. no pinch flats), yet they are built to fit on a standard clincher wheel. Installation requires no glue, no tools, and even no rim tape. Now everyone can experience the speed and ease of a tubular tire, without shelling out the cash for a new pair of wheels. The inside of the rim, wall to wall needs to between 13-15mm to use this product. The valves stems on these tires are approximately 32mm. They can be extended using a Tufo Valve Extender.

NOTE: THESE ARE TUBULAR CLINCHER TIRES FOR CLINCHER RIMS ONLY AND NOT REGULAR TUBULAR TIRES - PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE CORRECT VERSION CHOSEN BEFORE PLACING YOUR ORDER.

Love these tires. Great road feel and flat protection

I gave these a try primarily to see if tubulars were worth considering. I'm impressed. Very comfortable and confidence inspiring. I put a small amount of Tufo's regular sealant in when I mount the tire and I can only remember one flat in the numerous tires I've gone through.

I liked these tires so much that I purchased a set of tubular wheels and now use the tubular version of these tires almost exclusively.

Better feel than any clincher I've ever used

I'm in my fourth season of riding a size mix of Tufo C-Elite tubular-clinchers 25mm rear and 23mm front and I love them. In a nutshell, these tires are as comfortable and sure-footed as a tubular when inflated to my standard riding pressure 120psi and are simple to install once you get the hang of it. I've punctured twice in three years but each time the Tufo tire sealant held enough pressure to allow me to ride home.

While these tires are slightly more expensive than other options, one has to remember that you don't need to buy a tube or rim tape. At this point, I wouldn't dream of using another tire on my road bike.

Blew on first use

I was doing a triathlon and the tire blew only after 3 miles. I had it inflated to 200psi. I will never buy another tufo tire.

BikeTiresDirect Comments

First, our sympathies. It is a real drag when a tire (or any component) fails during an important event.

We strongly recommend not running tires at such a high inflation pressure. Even though many tubulars are theoretically rated at pressures this high, conditions such as high temperatures and rough roads can cause the pressure in the tire to increase substantially over the initial pumped pressure.

Traction is dramatically compromised at such high inflation pressures, with only modest reduction in rolling resistance. Unless riding on an extremely smooth surface, such as a velodrome, we recommend maintaining tire pressures between 110psi and 130psi for road riding.

That said, Tufo tires are generally of very high quality. We've seen fewer defects on these tires than most competing brands.
