Slime Self-Sealing Tubes

Recent 50 degree, misty dirt road ride in Middle TN you could hear the banjos!!!!. Puncture on rear tire about 12 miles in of 50. By the time I rolled to a stop, the tube was sealed. I just had to add a few pounds and finish the ride ! I use the Slime Lite on my cross bike, no pit stops for flats in 4 races so far this year.

This product does what it says on the packet. It will get you to the end of your eventcycle in the case of many regular punctures. When you get a proper puncture that the tube cannot contain, the slime sprays out of your tube and leaves a fluorescent green trail up your back and on the road. Changing the tube will leave you looking like you were attacked by Slimer from Ghostbusters.

Having said all that, there is nothing worse than having to stop, especially in miserable conditions, to change a tube after a puncture. I regularly use them especially if I am commuting. They are heavier than other tubes but this is barely noticeable, even on longer events and the time saved in repairing a puncture justifies the weight.
