Great tires for the $$$$, and they go through almost everything!

Rode the 700x32 tires for 4,600 commuting miles without a puncture. Once the back tire started getting flats once a day, I knew it was toast. Front is still going strong after 6,500 miles.

These tires are great for cornering. Many a dark morning I corner hard, never knowing what new debris might be scattered on the road sand, gravel, glass, plastic, metal shards, etc.. Only one time did I get that quick, cold sweat on the forehead as I felt the bike move sideways at about 45 mph. The tires slipped a bit, but grabbed what little pavement was there, and both the bike and I made it through that turn!

These tires also handle a load. At the start of my commuting last year, I weighed 250 lbs. heaviest of my life!. Along with rear panniers carrying lunch and a change of clothes, these tires were put to the test. I have now lost over 40 lbs., but have increased the pannier loads with errand runs.

I would have given these tires 5 stars if they came with a higher recommended tire pressure. For the first few months, I rode at the recommended 75 psi. A LBS wrench told me he pushed 90 psi without trouble. At 75 psi, the tires are a bit slow. At 90 psi, I get another couple MPH, and more corner response.

Dependable

Great commuting tires, the reflective sidewall adds some great side visibility. I bought the 700x35 reflective for comfortable commuting, they are ridiculously plush at 75-80 psi.

These are some heavy piggies though, almost as heavy as my mountain bike tires, push the psi higher as the other reviewer noted for a bit more speed and confidence in corners.

Really tough

I commute about 75 miles a week and have been using the 28mm version for the past two years had to replace the rear once because I kept it at 90 psi and the side wall started separating. I would not recommend going over 85 psi. Never had a flat though.

Yes I skid on these

Most of the reviews on here talk about long mileage with their road bikes. No hating here, but I use it to skid on my track bike. These tires are comparable to Continental Touring Plus's. I alternate between the two as my rear tire. All you fixietrack riders DO NOT RUN THIS AS YOUR FRONT TIRE. Get a tire that holds a higher PSI because the randonneur only holds 85. This tire skids like butter and it has many layers and they're colored so you can kinda estimate how long you have until you need to swap it out. I don't regret buying my first randonneur and after I run through the rest of my continental's, I'm buying 3 randonneurs so I can save some time from buying everytime I need a tire. Order online...stores in SF charge around $32-35.

Good tire and good value

I bought these 700X35 to replace the Bontrager OEM tires on my TREK 7500. I ride mostly paved bike trails and bike lanes. I'm a big load 6'-1" and 220 's so my tires have to work pretty hard, and our trails and lanes are full of dust and small bits of gravel. I did about 50 miles on them my first weekend and so far I'm happy and impressed. First off 70psi they feel smoother and faster than the OEM's did 90psi I didn't expect that. And second they feel nice and responsive. I ride 70-100 miles a week so it will be interesting to see what kind of mileage I get from them, and how they handle our very rare wet periods. As others here suggest I will increase the psi a bit to see if there's a little more speed in them.

Best touringcity tire, and not just for the money.

I've got about 3000 miles on these tires. Still plenty of tread. Got me through rain, a bit of snow, more rain, and now they're cruisin' beautifully on the hot pavement. It's a really stiff tire, so the PSI is low but the responsiveness is still great, over a year riding every single day on these and I have yet to flat! knock on wood.

a follow up, I''m still impressed

This is a follow up to my earlier review. With now close to 1K miles on these I've jacked the pressure up to 80psi and found a bit more speed without a negative change in handling. The ride is still good and they work well in the wet and dry. So far no flats either! A **** good tire for the money!!
