Sidi steps it up with the revolutionary Drako MTB Shoe. Their new top mountain shoe shaves 100 grams off the Dragon 2 while simultaneously offering even better comfort and superior adjusatability. It's no surprise that the Drako has already become the go-to option for XC racers across the globe.

The most noticeable change over the Dragon 2 is Sidi's new Techno 3 closure system. With three retention points across the upper, this Velcro®-free design allows for an incredibly secure, precise fit. The new low friction line material makes fine-tuned adjustments easier than ever, and provides improved durability over last year's Techno 2 closure. The topmost Techno 3 line is linked to a classic Sidi Caliper Buckle for familiar fit customization where its easiest to access from the saddle. Finally the updated Soft Instep Closure System® and padded tongue have been made lighter, helping to boost your competitive edge while simultaneously eliminating pressure points and discomfort.

As always, the Lorica® upper material provides a supple fit with excellent durability. A rubberized toe guard has also been added for a further degree of protection.

At the heart of the Drako is Sidi's updated SRS Sole®. The unique carbon lay-up construction delivers a feathery low weight and outstanding stiffness, while still maintaining strategic flex for extended comfort. An exclusive replaceable cleat wear plate provides the perfect shoe-to-pedal interface for shoe's lifetime, and the grippy, replaceable tread ensures traction on a wide variety of surfaces. As expected, the Drako SRS Sole® is also toe spike compatible for seriously muddy conditions.

New comfort fit insoles use memory foam padding for perfectly contoured underfoot cushioning. The Adjustable Heel Retention Device® features ventilated lower area as well, along with a wider design and more compliant material. The result helps eliminate power robbing heel lift without discomfort.

The Drako SRS Carbon MTB Shoe is available in Black Vernice and Yellow Fluorescent/Black Vernice. Of course, virtually all of the Drako's small parts are replaceable and readily available, ensuring your shoes stay on the road, season after season. Compatible with standard two bolt MTB pedals*.

*Note: To validate Sidi's warranty and to prevent sole cracking, the Sidi Reinforcement Plate (or similar from Crank Bros or Look) highly recommended for use with duel retention-bar style MTB pedals (crankbrothers, Time and Look). The plate is not required for Shimano-style pedals.

So far, so good!

I have put hundreds of miles of MTB racing and gravel riding on my CX bike in the several weeks since I bought these and they are excellent. I have owned 3 pair of Sidis (Dominators and Genius 5) over the last few years and they have been quite durable. When I decided to upgrade (my latest Dominators finally blew out a sidewall and duct taping them was getting old) I wanted to try shoes with the Boa closure, but had trouble finding any to try on, even at Specialized shops in the SF Bay Area. They had a few S Works or S Works EVO, but not both, and they always seemed to be out of the sizes I wanted to try on. So I ordered 2 pair of these in my best guess sizes from BTD and kept the one that fit perfectly. On paper these Sidi ratcheting closures are inferior to Boa closures because they require an extra step to tighten (you have to lift the bail to turn it) but I have never owned shoes with Boas so I can't say for sure. I will say they are a bit slower to tighten while riding than the old Sidi buckles, but they are faster to loosen. I was worried about the middle of the sole being slick when locating the pedal with the cleat, but that hasn't been an issue. I wanted 3 things in my new shoes and found them all 1) Perfect fit (the closures adjust better than Velcro), 2) little or no Velcro (I had problems with mud getting into the aged/weaker Velcro during CX races and not being able to get them to close until I rinsed them. We'll see how the ratchets handle mud this Winter!), 3) not made in Asia (I think all the Specialized shoes are, but these are made in Italy.) My only complaint, and it's not a big one, is that the rubbery tread block on the toe of the sole wears REALLY fast. They are replaceable, but I haven't seen just that part for sale yet. Seems like I might have to buy the entire sole, even though the rest of it is hardly showing any wear. I could probably improve the situation by installing spikes, but I don't ride with spikes in all conditions. I guess the other complaint is the cost, but sometimes you get what you pay for and this is one of those times.

Great shoes. Very comfortable.

These are the most comfortable mountain bike shoes I have had. The ability to replace the sole and the adjustment make this shoe worth the price.

The Next LEvel!

I've been riding SIDI shoes for over 14 years, and decided to pull the trigger on Drakos. They are AMAZING. The adjustable heel cup is also a boon, as it helps the shoe fit YOU, not you fitting the SHOE. I'm an endurance/hundie' guy, and have not gotten one single hot spot on my training ride either. These are also my first MTB shoes with carbon soles...Hooked!

Accept no substitute!

Simply amazing!

Although still expensive these shoes will change your life. I had sidi dominators before and they hurt my feet. I did a century ride the day after I got these shoes and no pain nor soreness in the feet at all. The closure system on these is amazing and creates no pressure points. The only bad thing I can say is no spd screw in clips were included which sidi usually always includes the shimano type but maybe that was just my local bike store that does that. One other thing is when you first try these on make sure you have removed the thin cardboard type arch support sidi puts deep in the shoes many I have talked to said the shoe felt funny at first and then they realized there was a very thin cardboard type packing deep in each shoe. I am telling you for me to write this much on anything is amazing, the shoe is amazing. I use these on my road bike and love them, when you pull or push you really go!

Best of the best...

When cost is no object, these are the shoes. I finally realized how critical (really) good shoes are (your connection to the bike, rotating mass, etc.), and stepped up. I only wish I had done it sooner (17yrs on the last pair of Sidi's).

Love these shoes. Power transfer and comfort is outstanding. Waiting for Miami hot summers to see if the venting is a benefit .

Would have given 5 stars, but lack of sole plate between cleat mount area and heal has caused some dicey re-entry's after unclipping on the fly. The Dragon had a safeguard sole unit that prevented this issue!
