Best overall tire

These are pretty much the lightest road tires out there but they wear amazingly well.

Cornering is excellent and best of all they are extremely easy to mount. I have some Hed Jets and Alps wheels total PIA to mount Vittorias on. The Schwalbe's are a cinch.

In sum

- Road feel better than Conti 4000s, though not as amazing as high end Vittorias

- Easier to mount than Conti or Vittoria

- Better tread life than Vittoria seems to be about the same as Conti though Contis get the thread hairs with age

- Significantly lighter than all of them

Best of all, when Schwalbe had quality control issues, they recalled them quickly. They deserve a second chance for sure. And these tires really are amazing.

Awesome Tire

I had never heard of Schwalbe before a friend told me about them. On his recommendation, I tried these out. They really perform - rail-like cornering and they seem impervious to glass. And they're amazingly light. I'm a total convert.

Best Tire I Have Ran in a Long Time. Rail Corners and seem to be flat proof.

What can I say....go to the Schwalbe Web Site and see for yourself what they say....it's all true!

great tires,no problems with black ones but not so lucky with blues

I have ride the blacks for over 1000 miles with no puntures or flats even with some cuts from glass I purchase a set of blues for my other bike and on the second ride the tire split open next to the bead, I tought it was cut by someone on purpose ,but the second tire I purchase to sustitute the damaged one have the same problem, its not the rim Reynolds Attacksince I installed Michelins pro3 and havent have any problems. It may be a deffective batch of tires , and i happen to purchase them.

Recall issues not solved

Received a set of the R.1s as a replacement for the recalled Ultremo R's. The recall of the prior version was for separation of the tread from the casing. Bubbles formed and de-lamination or blowouts occurred. Unfortunately, the supposedly new and improved version has the same problem. I used the new version for approximately 350 miles and the same bubbling has happened in the middle of the tire. Just glad I didn't have a blowout while descending at high speeds. Schwalbe, I tried to be loyal, but I have run out of patience.

Great, light, grippy tire

I commute to work a couple times a week and also do group rides on the weekend, but I like to go fast and feel confident in my bike's handling. These tires definitely fit the bill for me. They are super light, have awesome grip in the corners, rocket in the sprints, and are still supple enough for my commute. Not to mention that they have great flat protection. I ride through a lot of gravel, sand and small rocks and have not had a flat in the month that I've ridden them.

They are also easy to get on and off the rim if you do ever need to change out your tube. No sign of flat spots so far, but I notice the rear shows more wear than the front which still has the line in the middle.

I also love the sound the tires make when you accelerate! It sounds like you're tearing up the road.

Maybe great race tire but not very puncturecut resistant.

I purchased my first set of Ultremo tires over a year ago. They were not the R or R.1 tire. They were worn and were cut at about 1000miles. So I decided to purchase the R.1s after studying the Schawable site and seeing the ware rating of 4 out of 5.

The first rear tire was cut in about 2 miles of riding. The shoulder where I was riding was dirty. So I wrote it off to rider error. I got the replacement R.1 and took off on a 2 day ride. The first day around 50 miles the rear tire had a blowout looked like a small cut first then tube exposed. At this point I decided this tire is not for me even though it rides GREAT. I am switching to the Duro.

I weigh 190 and pump the tiers to about 130psi. I ride on normal US roads and shoulders.

If you buy this tie purchase the tire warranty and carry a spare or at least a tire patch kit.

Truly awesome - worth a try

over 1K of racing and training. The front still looks new. The rear shows some wear, but no slits, tears, or flat spots. I run them on Hed C2 rims and it's a great combo. They really do corner great. Even though they are slicks, I feel totally confident on wet roads. Good choice for a crit tire. Ride quality is superior to Conti gp4000's, almost as nice as Vittoria Evo CX's. They are priced fairly. No regrets. In fact, I'm buying a pair for my TT bike while the Memorial Dat sale is going on!
