Schwalbe's Durano S is a racier version of the standard Durano. The true successor of Schwalbe's popular and now-discontinued Stelvio, this tire is a bit less durable than the standard Durano but is lighter, with lower rolling resistance thanks to a fast-rolling slick center. RaceGuard puncture protection will keep you riding with confidence without contributing too much weight.

Available in Black, White, Red, Blue or Silver with Black center stripes. 700c x 23mm (23-622 ISO). Folding bead. 145 recommended PSI. 225 grams.

Love these tires

I ve been riding these tires for about 3 years. I am not a racer, but love how they handle in all conditions. I have very few flats since I switched to these tires.

Perfect all arounds that go the distance.

I have been riding these tires consistently over the past 2 years, on the junk chip and seal roads in Texas, and they hold up. I put about 2,000 miles on a set of these tires and no problems. So I have ridden 6 sets of these tires, and they are so consistent and flawless I have no need to ride anything else. For a training tire with race tire characteristics they are the goods!

Nice tyre - short lifespan

had two sets of these seemingly fabulous tyres but no more for me. All 4 tyres suffered from side walls falling apart. threads of material constantly coming away from the wall. Starts to happen almost immediately. By 200Kms, they all showed signs of advanced wear. On the white colour version, the white rubber starts to breakup after just 2 weeks or so. Great tyre but with such a short life they become too expensive for me.

Rides well but not very cut resistant.

I bought one to try it out. Put it on the back rides nice but notice shallow cuts with in about 100 miles. Picked up a paper staple at about 300 miles which punctured the tube. While inspecting the tire I notice about three deeper cuts. Now at 400 miles where the staple punctured the tire has a knot there now. Will be replacing it and the front tire with a tire with more layers. I ride on roads that are close to the beaches maybe there to many shell on the roads for this type of tire. My weight is 165 lbs and I was inflating the tire to 120 to 130 psi.

A great blend of durability and performace!

These tires have good flat protection, are light enough, and are soft enough to handle well in the corners. Its hard to find a tire that does all of those things well, but the Durano is a good balance of all three.

sidewalls are very fragile

They ride well and are fast, but not remotely durable. I have ridden them not even 1000 miles almost entirely on smooth pavement. The sidewalls are coming apart - threads everywhere and even a strip hanging off. A tube actually blew out through the sidewall when the bike was parked. No kidding. I really wanted to like these tires as their cousin the ultremo z was OEM on my Synapse (and the duranos dont get gouges in the tread like the ultremos) but these just did not hold up and I realize now became pretty dangerous. Not recommended.

Best performance road tire I've had.

The Schwalbe Durano S is top drawer! Each year I cycle to raise funds for cancer research and I typically log well over 3,000 miles over a six-month training season. My long rides are generally 75 to 90-miles in length with century rides during event days.

I have tried a number of very high quality performance tires and the Schwalbe Durano S is a remarkable improvement over my most recent set of tires. I have already put these babies to the test with a 75-mile ride ending with a 1-mile sprint to the finish on a slight uphill grade topping out at 30 mph.

The tires are quick, responsive and durable - not a mark on them. Reliable tires like this allow me to stay focused on raising funds to fight cancer.

Great tire!

Since I first got my first set of thes tires last I have not gotten a flat and the back tire wore out after around 4,000 miles and the front went about 6,000. So I feel fully satisfied with these tires and will continue to buy them as needed!

Good Compromise

I run both UltremoZX and DuranoS tires. These Duranos are not quite as light and supple as the UltremoZX, but slightly more cut and wear resistant. For me I find them to be a good compromise. I'm currently running a DuranoS on the rear and a UltremoZX on the front. Pretty good combination.

Tons of miles, very few flats

I purchased these after the OEM tires on my Madone gave me way too much experience at fixing flats. These tires ended that problem. The first year I put 2600 miles on them with only two repairs. This year I swapped the rear to front as the rear had squared off a bit. I had another new pair of tires on standby but never needed them. Only two more flats this year and the tires will have over 5,000 miles on them when they come off this fall. Actually they'll probably stay on for the trainer this winter. They're battle scarred but refuse to give up. The one downside of all of that mileage is the lack of a round profile and the bigger foot print (nominally more rolling resistance) that results. The price is staying on the high side so I'll probably experiment with something more short lived next time around and spend less time riding on square tires. Still loved them for exceeding expectations, and especially for allowing my spare tube to stay in the bag.

This tire will give you many miles

Guys I ride with have gotten 1700 miles on these with minimal flats. Good roadtraining tire for midwestern roads. I put these on my comfortable bike for long rides 80-100 mile days.

Best tire I've every had.

I live in the midwest, with rough, pot holes roads. I put over 4,000 miles on my first set of tires with zero (0) flats. I'm on my second set with 1,500 miles with one (1) flat so far, bad stem from one of the tubes in my first set of tires that got 4,000 miles. Tires rolls well, not much friction. I would strongly recommend this tire, and have to my friends.

Fragile, not durable

Not Durano. My typical riding is 30-60 mile rides with some chip seal. Two rear tires blew out with sidewall splits with 300-600 miles on them. If you don't suffer the same fate, you'll still get a tire that runs slow, especially in colder weather. The only good thing I can say is that these mount easily. Save your money.

By the way, my favorite tire for training is the Vittoria Rubino Pro.

too soft for long term use

These tires needed more and more air pressure to keep from being squishy. I am 150lbs and over a short period of time they showed major wear. Not a good training tire but supple for racing.

Good Tires

I buy these tires for my wife. She can get about a year of 200-300 miles per week out of them.

1400 miles on this set so far and these tires are great! Buying another set now for my new ride.

I ride an average of 150 - 200 miles on road by myself and with a group. I can not remember a flat with these tires and I have put more than 1400 miles on them in the 7 months I have owned them. Corners well, rolls well, but the thing I noticed right away is how easy it is to mount them without a tool.

Wary of this tire so far

I bought four of these tires on the recommendation of this vendor. I put the first two on my wife's bicycle . I have had three flats as a result of the bead blowing over the edge of the rim. The bead seems very soft compared to other tires I have had, although this makes changing the tire easy. The rims are Reynolds, so I do not think it is because of a cheap knock off rim.

I am not convinced that this is the great tire I have seen reviewed on this site.

Soft ride, cut and puncture resistant

I have had these for about 500 miles and they are cut resistant and I have not had a flat yet. Coming from Michelin Pros they are mushy and not the same road feel at all. For the first 100 miles after switching over I always thought I had a flat tire. I prefer the racing tire that is more responsive but that is a preference. I got them on sale for $25 and at that price they are a good deal. Full price there are faster tires. I shouldnt be so critical about a training tire I havent has a flat on yet though
