An Improvement on Near-Perfection

I was a big fan of the original formula Panaracer Race Type A. It was the stickiest, fast-cornering tire I had ever tried and its durability was better than that of more supple tires while costing less. So I was concerned when Panaracer phased out the Type A for their new formula Type A Evo 2, a little worried that the improvement might not be as sticky as I like, that it might favor durability at the expense of handling performance.

Happily, the new formula seems to be an all-around improvement. The original was so sticky when new that road debris actually stuck to the tire, making the initial scrub-in period an annoyingly messy, cautious ride. Not such a problem with the Evo 2. Yet the formula is tough and sticky. I have more confidence in these tires when diving into corners than any other. At this point, I've got 900 miles on them and haven't had a flat. I may update this review at the end of the tire's life if there there turns out to be more to report.

Very good in dry condition

This tire is really good, especially has good grip when it is dry. A slightly slick under wet condition, but not so bad as most of the ones on the market. Flat-tire & ware resistance are superb. Do not have flat so far (after 5000 mi of various road conditions). Highly recommend ! BTW, why don't they sell tubular version of this tire ? Previous Race A tubular is available, but Race A Evo2 tubular is not ??
