Excellent for riding on both asphalt and hard packed dirt. Tightly spaced, super low profile knobs create a tire that nearly rolls like a slick on the road, but provides more traction than a slick on dirt. More pronounced edge knobs for better cornering off-road. Very puncture resistant and long wearing. Wire bead. 33 TPI. 560 grams. 73 Max. PSI. 26x1.75" Black.

The Perfect Commute Tire???????

Best way to turn a mountain bike into a street bike. Fast rolling and great puncture resistance. Surprisingly high traction rubber and great tread. When commuting on asphalt gets monotonous, this tire is perfect for the trails on the long way home.

Sticky tire, Cheaper than Wallyworld

I was looking for a commute tire for the MTB and came across this wonder. After checking local shops and even the almighty Sprawlmart i was amazed to find this beauty and at such a low price, i figured even if it was junk it was cheap enought to replace three times a summer. Well to my suprise the thing holds up Awesome, grips like crazy on pavement and hard pack, and rolls about a million times easier than the old knobby. So glad I found your site and these tires. It also helps that I live in Eugene so shipping is a only a day.

Excellent Hybrid Bike Tire

I've had a set of Michelin Country Rock tires on my L.L.Bean hybrid bike for the past two years. I primarily do 15-30 mile street rides with an occasional trail ride. These tires have performed exceptionally well in both environments! Very smooth rolling on paved surface, but with enough bite to hold firmly off road. Tires lookfeel sturdy and seem to be wearing well. I would not hesitate to purchase this model tire again in the future. Highly recommended.

easy roller

A very nice tire that is an easy low resistance roller. Suitable for hard pack trail and street riding. Can handle some loose slop in a pinch, but best on the more groomed trails.

Great tire for urban use

Rarely ride my MTB off road these days so bought these and got rid of my off-road knobbies. Huge difference- rolls easy, quiet and tons of grip on the pavement. 1.75" is wide enough for grass and hardpack dirt roadsgravel. Also does well on pot holes and shoddy roads. Really love these tires, easy and cheap way to transform MTB to a commuteron road bike.

Awesome urban slick -- especially for wetrainy conditions!

I've pretty much used this tire for the last five years of daily riding the streets of San Francisco, and probably the biggest reason is because of how the tire 'sheets' water off to the sides as you ride through wetrainy conditions. Honestly, these tires make using fenders unnecessary almost!

Additionally, they are quiet, relatively puncture resistant and wear pretty well. Cornering on pavement is excellent. For the price, I can't recommend these tires enough they've recently gone up 25% in costs, probably because they are so popular.

Helps with traction on wet Oregon leaves

These are my rainy-season street tires here in Oregon. The tread seems to be just enough to help bite through wet leaves & mud on the street, and isn't enough to slow me down too much. Tires seem durable, well made, and are very easy to mount dismount. They don't have any puncture protection, but I use them with tire liners and "thornproof" tubes no flats this past winter.

Great Durable Tiire at Great Price

I have been riding on these tires for over 3 years, and I love them. There are so many 1.5" city tires out there. I don't think 1.5" provides very good protection for your rims. I put a fatal flatspot in a nice 26" rim hitting a curb with a 1.5". That made me switch to the Country Rock 1.75". The wider casing gives more air volume to soak up hits. This tire is a good blend of rim and tube protection, wet and dry grip, light weight, and smooth rolling. They wear a long time as well. You can't go wrong buying a pair of these for an old mountain bike turned townie.

veddy veddy nice!!

I have been riding on these since June of 2007 on the streets and trails of San Antonio, Texas. They converted my late model TREK 840 into a nice urban trail and street bike. Solid control on the streets and dusty trails...not too bad in mild wet conditions..handled a two flash flood rides home very confidently.

Absolutely Amazing Tire!

I have nearly 4000kms on my tires and they are still about 50% of tread life. The durability is beyond anything I have been able to compare another tire with. If you own a mountain bike and use it primarily for commuting then choose this tire. It sticks well to the road under most conditions. However, I would recommend switching to something more aggressive as winter approaches, but sensibility would dictate this anyway. Try them, you won't be disappointed.

100% bulletproof in extreme urban duty, over broken glass bottles, car windows, potholes

Used as daily commuter tires on a MTB, in combination with Tuffy tire liners and Slime tubes. Never have had a flat in two years. Much lower rolling resistance compared to slightly less expensive tires. Very good grip, even over rain-slicked cast iron manhole covers. Exhibiting good wear characteristics. What price is peace of mind? Very reasonable with these! Merci, Bib!

Great tires

I was looking for a tire that had much less resistance than my huge knoby tires for a good price. These were just what I was looking for. They roll very easily compared to my old tires and have decent traction.I primarily ride on the street so these are perfect for my daily ride. Great value and great tires!

A Good Upgrade For That Old Mountain Bike

I bought this tire to replace wide knobbies on a chain-store mountain bike to adapt it for casual town riding. Rolling resistance was dramatically reduced, ride quality was increased, and the bike is much more sure-footed in paved corners. But there is no significant loss of traction or control in hard-packed dirt or grass. All in all, a highly successful swap I would recommend to anyone.

Fast tire! Good handling! Low rolling resistance! Buy it!

In short

commute nearly 100M per week, paved trail and streets.

Knobby Specialized MBTs slowed me down approx 4-5 mph and tore my legs up pushing the pieces of &$.

Michelin CRs were dramatically faster .....and consequently biking is more fun, again! ....recover faster also!! The difference in rolling resistance can't be overemphasized.

One month's riding on these and no problems....cornering, rain, ...whatever!

A absolute steal at some $20 odd dollars. However, recommend high quality tubes and talc lubricant to minimize any flats!

Rides smoothly, great transition from mountain biking tires for in city use, and the water no longer soaks me if the ground is wet!

I use the tires on my mountain bike to transition out of the factory tires that came with it. I did not like riding the old tires they were not built for the terrain I use it on. I feel much more comfortable at the end of the day riding my bike now and I can ride longer as well. Also when the ground is wet they are great at keeping it from coming back up on you.

Better than I expected

I live and ride in Sri Lanka. Ride mostly on the road which is why I got the Michelin Country Rock Tire. However, I pleasantly found it had good traction on dry off roads dirt and had decent traction climbing dirt hills too. I find it a super dual purpose tire good on roads and off. As expected it is not for muddy trails.

What a smooth ride!

We are a middle aged couple that mostly ride pavement and smooth trails on our Mountain Bikes. We wore down the knobby's on the more aggressive tires we had and tried these tires. WOW! What a difference! Smooth ride and I swear it made two gears difference on the same trails! If you're not a hard core, off-pavement rider, I would highly recommend these tires!

I like these tires

I use a Montague folding bike for travelling . Originally it came with knobby tires . I wanted a tire that is more road friendly while still being able to ride on gravel and hard packed surfaces as this seems to fit my riding style the most . It does great on road, gravel and any hardpacked surface . For really loose gravel I had to drop the pressure somewhat but it performed well . I encountered some sand and as long as it was wet and packed I was able to get through but when hitting loose sand I bogged right down which was expected .

A somewhat unusual benefit - if riding after a rain when the roads are still wet - this tire does not spray up your back (unless you hit actual standing water). I am very impressed with this tire and I recommend it for road, rails to trails or country riding where you encounter gravel roads . When reducing pressure for looser gravel make sure you don't reduce too much lest you end up with snake bites. It is an excellent touring tire

the best hybrid tire there is

These tires make your bike handle better on pavement than the standard tire ever will be. I rode my bike through a creek that had about 9 to 10 inches of water in it and it felt like there was no water there at all. These tires also do not throw water at you unless you go through water deeper than 1 to 2 inches at high speeds.

To simplify all of this, these are the best tires for both wet and dry conditions.

I have not tried these tires on snow yet, so I can not tell you how they handle the snow. these tires are very durable too.

Terrific on my run-around-town folding mountain bike

I bought a pair of these to put on my vintage folding 2626 Dahon mountain bike. So far, the grip and tread have been terrific running around town in wet weather, leavs on the ground, etc. Have also taken it on some grassy areas and dirt trails, and they behaved really well there as well, but I'm not a mountain biker and so won't try anything more intense that that. I was on a budget, and these were a terrific deal, especially as I caught a good sale price. Been running them at 65-70psi, imagine they'll serve well in moderately icy or snowy weather at lower pressures. Definitely a whole lot better for me and my uses than the knobbies I was running, and I didn't want slicks because I do occasionally do a short jaunt in dirt or muddy trails.

Great asphalt tire for a mountain bike

I bought these to replace the knobby tires on my wife's mountain bike since most of its use is on roads. These tires were easy to mount and work great. Without the knobbies, you are able to go faster and there is less tire noise. Great price on sale.

Excellent quality, perfect for road use for 26 inch wheels

We converted two mid-1990s mountain bikes to around-town utility bikes, and were looking for a good tire for paved road use and occasional use on gravel roads. This was the best combination of price and quality we found, and the tires are excellent for both wear and ride quality. They have an orientation, so be sure to mount them with the discharge of the tread facing backwards to shed water - an arrow showing direction of rotation is on the sidewall of the tire. These tires were recently on sale at biketiresdirect.com and I almost bought an extra two pair, but decided that they are likely to last for several years before they need replacing.

Terrific Tires that everyone should consider!

Few mountain bikes sold ever really go off road. Trails at best. I love this tire. It is just aggressive enough to give me confidence on improved trails with the overall power and speed I can really use when zooming down on paved bike trails, around the neighborhood and on the road. It is quiet, smooth running and just feels solid. I even set mine up on a tubeless rig and am running it that way.

Easy Rolling

Bought a set of these last summer for my wife's MTB because she rides mostly on paved trails. Liked the looks of them and she said they rode better than her original knobbies. Fast forward Last week the Daily Special was these tires for 12 price. I immediately ordered a pair for my hard-tail MTB that I ride for fitness, short hops, etc. Got them mounted and the first ride was an eye-opener. They are very smooth and fast on pavement. Can ride at least one gear higher consistently, with less effort. (so much for fitness!) Now if they are as durable as my Contis, I will be happy.

Smooth, quiet, low rolling resistance

I commute to the train with my bike every day... It's just a couple of miles. These tires replaced my knobby dirt tires on my Trek Mountain track 830. The michelins ride smooth and quiet. They seem to roll better than the knobby tire that were already on my bike. I have used them on hard pack trails at the forest preserve near my house. They performed very well... If you are looking for a good street tire that is trusty enough for the hard packed forest preserve bike path.... Look no further these are reasonably priced and perform well.

A superior all-around tire docked one star for puncture resistance characteristics.

This is a very nice tire for dry or wet pavement, packed gravel, or light offroad use. When one of my studded winter tires failed, I even used one of these on the rear with a studded tire in front and it was a great combination for black ice and light snow. I do not consider puncture resistance to be a strong point, I use tire liners but still get a few goathead punctures where the liners don't reach. All in all, a superior all-around tire docked one star for puncture resistance characteristics.

Great onroadoffroad tire

I use this tire on an older Trek 820 MTB bike. These tires were 2 MPH faster than the knobbies I was using. I was pleasantly surprised by their solid off road performance. I ride a lot of rails to trails and dirt roads. Good traction on steeper dirt slopes both going up and down. This tire won't stick as well as a knobby on dirt. Tire is quiet on pavement and very fast. I highly recommend this tire.

Excellent on the road and good enough in moderate and packed desert conditions

Works well on the road with my drop bar mountain bike and almost as fast as a slick tire. In the desert with loose gravel it is okay and hard packed riding is good. Would not be the tire I would use for aggressive trail riding or odd and changing conditions around Mt. Adams.

Nice city cruiser

Noticed a dramatic improvement in terms of drag when swapping these for knobbies. That should be a given. So far I've used these for cruising around, toting my kids on our xtracycle and some longer distance commuting. They seem to be solid. My only reticence in giving them a higher rating is that I haven't had them that long, AND... Michelin isn't really well known to me as far as bike tires go. Only time will tell if they are worth being put on your every-day commuter, which to me is the gold standard for bike commuting tires. So far, so good.

Love my bike even more...

I switched out the original nubby tires on my Specialized so that I could really use the bike as a hybrid. These tires are perfect for easy mountain biking and fast road cycling. It's like getting a new and more versatile bike. I couldn't be happier with them.
