Great chain for the money.

No reason to spend [$] on a chain. This chain performs better than a Sram 1090r and wears longer. Strong and reliable. You can't go wrong for the money.

Works well with Shimano 105

I have been using the KMC X10 chain for several years. I ride in the rain during the fall, winter, and spring, so the ability to quickly remove the chain for thorough cleaning is a big plus.

The split link can be a bit tricky to open up so I bought the Park Tool pliers to make the job really easy. I take the chain off, soak it in citrus solvent, clean it with a stiff brush and rag, then lube it with ProGold. Keeping it clean this way seems to extend the life much longer than using the rotating brush and reservoir setup.

The KMC chain lasts longer than the Shimano chain.

Best chain for the money.

I had this chain originally when I bought my new bike. After about 2200 miles I replaced it with Sram PC-1091R (hollow pins). The Sram 1090r is a few grams lighter, shifts smoother and quieter when new but after about 700 miles the chain was stretched like a noodle with moderate climbing. So, I switched back to this KMC, put it through the wringer and been happy with it so far. Just keep clean and lube every 1-2 rides (100 miles) and it runs just fine. So I'll stick with this chain for its durability, the penalty is a few grams heavier.

Great Winter Chain

This is a great winter chain. Will put Dura Ace back on when the weather gets better.

Shifts too quickly for a steel bike, problems may be due to lack of frame stiffness

I tossed this chain onto a sulry cross-check with FSA Pro Road chainrings and a SRAM OG 1050 cassette on the rear. I had problems from the beginning with chainsuck (on a road bike!) if I stood up to sprint while in the small ring. After the chain broke in, the problems went away. Perhaps this wouldn't have been a problem on a stiff race bike, but for this steel beast I'll go back to SRAM or Shimano chains.

Good value chain

I have used the 9 speed version of this chain as well. Both the 9 speed and the current 10 speed versions provided long life and good shifting when routinely cleaned and lubed.

Works like a chain.

Quieter than the Ultegra chain which was quieter than my Sram chain on my 2011 Sram Red. Might weigh about 20grams more. Shifts as well as Ultrega, better than Sram.

Good chain

i only have a few hundred miles on it, but so far so good. this is my 2nd KMC and i had good luck with the first one also. the magic link is nice, makes putting on a new chain a 'snap'.

excellent value, BTD was cheaper than Amazon also.

Perfect relacement.

I am impressed. This chain is quite, looks good and up/downshift are perfect. I really like the master link, cleaning drive train just got easier. May look to their lighter version but this chain is pretty good.

Great chain, problems with defective missing links.....

I've been using KMC chains for several years. KMC chains work well with all type of drive systems. They run nice and smooth and hold up well, although I change out my chains at 2000 miles. They are also a huge bargain with what is available in the ten speed chain market. My main beef is with the defective Missing Links. About 50% of them are defective. I think it is caused by the way they are packed. They are place in the box with the chains and I imagine after have a lot of stuff packed on top of them they get bent out of shape. Even with a non-defective ones they are difficult to install. You can go to Amazon.com an buy a card of 6 Missing Links for around $15.00. Although it would be helpul if biketiresdirect.com had them in stock. I pack a Wipperman Connex link in my seat bag for emergengies, however they don't work that well with the KMC chains.

Wow...great chain

I switched to this chain from Wipperman. I have used ulterga, SRAM etc..

I used it for the first time on a 200k brevet. Silent and quick shifting. Seems to be a great choice for a balance of longevity and smoothness!

Performs just as it should.

Put this on my Campy Record 10 speed drive train, replacing an expensive but worn out Wipperman chain. The KMC shifts like a dream, no negative issues that I can identify at all. I bought several thinking that if I wear out a SS Wipperman so quickly, that I am going to need to change chains pretty often and spending one third for the same life would be a no brainer. I guess winter riding here in the PNW is hard on chains with all the road grit and grime.

Nice chain!

Got 4 of these chains from BTD because of the great price. Currently have about 700 miles on the one I installed. Very quiet and smooth. Pretty cool considering this year's harsh New England winter. I'm happy with their chase.

Great chain roks with all drivetrain systems.

I was super pleased to find this product at BTD. With the connecting chain link, it makes it very easy to remove the chain for cleaning. Runs quiet and smooth on both Shimano and Campagnolo drivetrains. KMC is now my chain brand of choice.

Great chain-have used for years.

I have found this chain to be just as good as any others and are a great value. I especially like that they have a connector instead of pins to connectdisconnect.

Happy with chain tho I do struggle a bit with master links in general but would not buy a chain without it.

Road biking for fitness. As noted I did struggle a bit with the master link but I have that problem anyway. Shifts nicely and is smooth pedaling. Good value. No downside for me and my cycling.

It's a chain, it chains well

KMC chains now live on every bike in my stable. They do the job. I like the master link, most folks who have chain problems do so because of improperly installed pins these days. The master link removes this issue. These chains shift well, they run smoothly, and wear well. I got them on Dura Ace 10, 8, and 7 speeds, Rohloff, and fixed gear bikes. The price is reasonable in comparison to others.

Good product.

I use this chain on all my 10sp road bikes. It works well with SRAM or Shimano components or with a mix of components. I also like the quick link. Price is reasonable too.

Great chain for the price.

I have several bikes so always keep extra chains on hand. These work well for both Shimano and Campagnolo drive trains. Can't beat the price.
