HED Jet 5 Express Clincher Wheelset

The Jet 5 Express brings high performance features to an obtainable price point. A unique hybrid rim design offers incredible aerodynamics while maintaining a reasonable weight, outstanding durability and reliable braking performance. This updated model is now compatible with Shimano 11-speed systems.

HED's J5 rim starts with a 55mm 1K carbon aero section to cut through the wind with ease. A special proprietary shaping process called Stability Control Technology dramatically improves the wheel's handling in crosswinds for a buffet-free ride. This lightweight carbon section is then bonded to a scandium C2 outer rim which increases the wheel's overall durability and dramatically improves braking performance over full carbon designs. To further aerodynamic efficiency, HED's C2 rim features extra wide 23mm rim bed which reduces drag when paired with a 23mm wide tire.

The Jet 5 Express wheels use HED's exclusive Sonic alloy hubset. The front hub uses a 12mm oversized axle and top quality cartridge bearings, while the rear features a 15mm oversized axle and cartridge bearings to match. Both hubs benefit from extra-wide flange spacing to reduce spoke flex and improve overall rigidity.

HED uses Sapim Sprint bladed spokes to hold it all together. 18 are laced radially up front, and 24 laced 2x on the rear to further laterally stiffness, weight reduction and aerodynamics.

The Jet 5 Express Clincher Wheelset has a claimed weight of 1681 grams (754 gram front, 927 gram rear). Black rims with Black hubs/spokes. 700c. The Shimano version is compatible with 11-speed cassettes and includes a spacer for Shimano/SRAM 8/9/10-speed cassettes. A Campagnolo 9/10/11 compatible version is also available.
