Speed and comfort -- together at last. The Factor is an impressive addition to Giro's highly anticipated 2011 shoe line, combining a luxurious fit with ultimate power transfer.

The first thing to mention is the Easton® EC90 SLX sole -- this is the same high modulus material used in Easton's most advanced carbon fiber bike parts. This means the Factor's sole is incredibly light yet amazingly stiff, providing instant power transfer to the pedals.

For the upper, Giro uses an ultra-light microfiber material called Teijin AG100, which is exceptionally breathable, and actually conforms to the specific shape of a rider's foot. The replaceable ratcheting buckle and two strap closure system is secure yet comfortable. An off-set "D-ring" at the center strap provides extra fit adjustment, while eliminating pressure points.

Giro's SuperNatural footbed also helps customize the fit, with a totally unique adjustable arch system to provide a precise fit and allow for fine-tuned adjustments. The footbed also features X-Static, an anti-microbial fiber which helps eliminate odor causing bacteria.

The Factor weighs 255 grams in size 42 . Compatible with standard three-bolt road cleats. Available colors: White (Red accents), Black (Red accents) and Red/White.

This size chart provides our best estimate for which European shoe size to choose based on your US shoe size. This will not necessarily match the US size shown on the product, but it is the best guidance we can provide for this particular brand.

If we've noticed that any particular model deviates from the standardized chart, we will list this information in the product description.

Great shoes that fit well!

I was riding Mavic Zxeliums which were a little too wide in the toe box. These Giro Factors are awesome in appearance (Red with white)and are even better looking than my old Sidi Bettini edition Ergo 2s. The included three arch level inserts are great without adding extra expense if you have to go higher or lower in your arch to get the right fit. Are you listening Specialized!!Great road slippers!!! Sizing is similar to Mavic, Specialized, or Sidi.

Best Shoes I've Owned!!

Everything that could ever be good about a cycling shoe, plain and simple. As I pulled them out of the box I was instantly impressed with just how darn good they look, and how light they were. The black with red is color scheme is absolutely sharp. Given all the hype there has been with this shoe I had high expectations, and so far they have all been met. These have to be the most instantly comfortable shoes I have ever put on. The medium arch support works great, and I love that they include the different sizes. They feel nice, light, and stiff and put the power to pedals in a way I've never felt before. I love the buckle system as it feels very solid and dependable. So far, this been an absolutely awesome shoe and I highly recommend it for anyone looking to step it up the shoe department.

Well-fitting Road Shoe that is nice and light.

After reading a few other online shoe reviews for the Giro Factor, I found a good price at Biketiresdirect.com. My feet had developed a hot spot under the forefoot area from running, and my previous cycling shoes kind of made those flare up. So, I was looking for a new shoe, and came upon the Factor. What appealed to me was the Giro insole fit kit. Arch support is a big deal for me, and the inclusion of 3 different arch supports makes custom fitting these shoes pretty easy. For example, during the summer, I like to cycle without socks, so I used the medium support. As the weather gets colder, and i'm wearing socks, I can switch to the less supportive arch. The quality of the shoe, and it's appearance, are very good. The velcro front strap and mid-strap, make for a secure fit, without pressure spots. The price if not on sale is a bit high, but if you can find them on sale, go for it!

Lightweightgreat ventilationfirm sole superb shoe!

This Giro road shoe had a lot of Sidi expectations to overcome. I've been a Sidi user for years and took a leap of faith on the Giro. After an intense spec comparison between the two brands, decided to try the Giro.

I made the right choice. With a super-firm carbon fiber sole, energy transfer from foot to pedal was solid. Ventilation through the mesh microfiber fabric was fantastic - actually felt cool ... on a hot day. The straps were of perfect length and positioning enabling a perfect custom fit. Comes with arch inserts for an even better fit. Dirtmud wipes off easily from the entire shoe - except the white microfiber - needs more effort to clean, but hey, you're not going to sloshing mud on then every day.

Superb shoe!

I will never buy a Giro product again - Poor design in the toe area and still defective manufacturing

I have had three defective pairs of these shoes. They fit great and seemed like a reasonable deal. I got my first pair one year ago. Within a week, the lining on the inside of the toe area buckles. This then rubbed on the tops of the toes making the shoe unwearable. BTD immediately sent my a replacement. The second pair lasted a year and then formed this bubble inside the toe again almost over night. The shoes are taken care of and have never been wet. Last week, BTD said that Giro admitted that is a known defect and the problem was fixed. I got my third pair this week. I went on two rides and it buckled again.

BTD has been extremely helpful through this, but I am sure done with Giro!

Very stiff soles, pretty comfortable - subtly different fit than Sidis

My Sidi 5's were worn out, so I bought a pair of these. Here are the more obvious differences - the Factor's sole is stiffer and thinner, the Factor is lighter, and the Factor's heel pocket holds my heel better the Sidis. It's not a perfect fit, though, a few comments after my first few weeks in the shoes

I have a pretty narrow foot, so I inserted a slightly thicker footbed (Specialized, blue) than the factory version, which helps take up a little space. I still have to tighten the velcro straps down just about as far as they'll go - and I still feel like if I wear a really thin sock there's just a bit too much room inside. But on the upside, the straps do have more range of adjustment than the Sidis, so it's manageable. Slightly thicker socks and all is well.

The heel, as I said, fits beautifully with no extra motion. This is true even when the buckled straps aren't completely ratcheted down - very nice for keeping the circulation going.

The toebox is a bit roomier than the Sidis, which is more comfortable on longer rides, but I do get just a little more lateral movement at the front of my foot when pedaling, which I think I just have to get used to. It's not a problem - just a different fit.

The soles are great - very stiff, very light, very thin. I had to drop my seatpost about 0.75 to 1 mm to compensate for the difference from my old shoes to these. I like the way the underside of the sole interfaces with the cleats - there's a nice anti-skid surface there.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with them. I didn't rate them 5 stars just because the fit isn't perfect - but my foot is actually kind of hard to fit perfectly.

Excellent shoes - stiff sole, good fit, light weight, good price, sharp looking

Bought these shoes over the winter so have only used them on the trainer. Never had a carbon sole before bc I was too cheap to spend the money. These were on sale and I had wanted to try Giro shoes, so I splurged. The Hi Viz color was a bonus. The size chart worked well for me, I ordered a size 48 which fits well - I normally take a size US 13 tennis shoe. In cycling shoes, I take a 48 Specialized and Diadora, but 49 in Pearl Izumi and Shimano. Now that I know what a difference carbon soles make, I will not buy anything else. I really like the Hi Viz color, the straps and ratchet fit system, and the overall feel. Can't wait to hit the road and be the envy of my cycling buds.

Very comfortable shoe

Great shoe, good looking and comfortable. Previous shoes were Sidi's, thought I'd try these because of the weight and price and I like the arch supports in the insoles. Just rode 100 miles last Saturday, no foot issues.

Ultra comfort for narrow feet.

I've tried several different highend shoe brands. These are the first shoes that I can ride all day with no foot pain or my foot going numb. Worth every penny!
