The Atmos is a classic road helmet updated with some of Giro's most advanced, comfort-increasing, gram-shaving technology.

It all starts with the tough InMold® construction that put Giro on the map, then the Atmos gets a Thermoformed Roll Cage for even better impact resistance. 26 WindTunnel ports keep the breeze flowing when temperatures climb, and keep the weight low.

Like the rest of Giro's high-end offerings the Atmos features the RocLoc® 5 retention system for outstanding adjustability. Featherweight webbing straps, a slimline buckle and SuperFit engineering guarantee a precise fit that's downright luxurious.

The Giro Atmos is available in various colors.

Sizes:

  • Small (20" - 21.75"/51cm - 55cm)
  • Medium (21.75" - 23.25"/55cm - 59cm)
  • Large (23.25" - 24.75"/59cm - 63cm)

Light and comfortable, with some minor fit issues.

I bought this helmet for a bike tour three years ago and continued to use it often before replacing it recently with a helmet from another manufacturer. Most of the time this helmet was very comfortable, and so light that I could forget I was wearing it. I had a few difficulties with it, though, mostly related to fit. It didn't play nicely with one of my pairs of glasses (I wear prescription lenses, and over the three years I had it, I wore this helmet with two different pairs of regular glasses and two different pairs of sunglasses), and I found the adjustment mechanism to be increasingly annoying as time went by. Eventually it wouldn't stay put except at too tight or too loose, and I replaced it (a relatively cheap and easy to replace part). I prefer dial adjustment systems to the old Giro system, which is not quite as micro-adjustable -- but Giro seems to have caught on to that with their new RocLoc 5 system, which might very well be a major improvement. I did appreciate the lightness and breeziness of the Atmos, especially on my bike tour.

Light, Air, and Stylish

Best road bike helmet I've owned! Feels weightless...like wearing nothing at all. This sensation is bolstered by generous venting which allows seemingly hat-less air flow. There are good reasons why you see Giro Atmos helmets everywhere, they're light, airy, stylish and long proven by the big boys. Also, they're available in several color schemes to fit your club's kit. I also appreciate the ease of adjustment. I can lose the balaclava, dial it in, and feel snug and secure in no time.

Note I wouldn't have bought this helmet at full retail price. Watch for a good sale price and go for it!

Love the great venting and lightweight

Got the helmet on sale and it has been fabulous. Compared to my previous lower end helmet, the increased venting and substantial weight savings are noticeable. The helmet is very comfortable on and, with minimal padding, doesn't absorb a lot of sweat. I use a Halo sweatband so the easily adjusted head circumference helps get a perfect fit every time.

Great Brain Bucket

Found this helmet on sale, and was very pleased with the fit of the helmet (Giro helmets have always had a good fit on my noggin). It's a great helmet with excellent cooling and a superb fit, especially with the Roc-Loc 5 adjustment.

However, I found the quality of this helmet to be a little off from the past Giro helmets I've worn. For example, there are fewer pads in the helmet, so I actually took some spare replacement pads and glued some Velcro in the new helmet to hold them. At that point the helmet fit better and was much more comfortable. I also note that some of the surfaces on the rim of the helmet used to have a plastic covering which kept them from wearing, but now it's just bare Styrofoam and I expect these areas to wear out quicker.

Despite this little nitpicks, overall it is a good deal for a recreational helmet that fits and performs well.

Comfortable, well ventilated, and good value

Fits well. Adjustable clamp mechanism is easy to use. Light. Good looking. Well ventilated. Can't see paying more for a helmet. It was an especially a good value when on sale. The sweat band inside is not cemented on as well as it should be reducing the rating to 4 stars.

Giro Atmos Worth Every Penny

I tried on every helmet on the market (I'm kinda that way) and this helmet was simply the most comfortable. My head circumference is 54.5 so I chose the medium size helmet which adjusts perfectly to fit and also can be loosened to allow a winter cap underneath. Initially, I thought the relative lack of padding inside would bother me over time but the helmet is so light I can barely feel it up there. At first, the rear strap was rubbing on the top of my ears but I was able to adjust it up enough to remove any irritation. Highly Recommend.

This is a great helmet for any level rider.

This helmet is great! I bought the Titanium colorway as it goes great with my Ti bike. The helmet is light, has great wind channels and the Roc Loc adjustment in the back is super convenient. Depending on the weather, I'll wear a cycle cap underneath. Making the necessary adjustment on the fly is key. Buying this during one of the helmet sales on BikeTiresDirect made it an amazing value.

My head is about 59cm, so I'm right in between sizes. I've had a Large that I would adjust all the way down, and it's great in the winter because I could even fit a nit cap underneath! I also have a Medium that still fits great and is preferred for summer riding. Even though I'm close to the cut off for a Medium, I can still fit a cycle cap easily with a few clicks on Roc Loc to tighten snug.

I hope this helps someone out.

Ride safely!

Light, airy, and the perfect fit!

You can't put a price on safety and protection. But when you make that safety item light, highly breathable, and extremely comfortable with the adjustments, price points mean everything. For the price of this helmet, it delivers everything that I want and need in a helmet. Easy to adjust on the fly and fits comfortably with a skull cap. My wife is on her second Atmos (first one was destroyed in a crash, but the helmet protected her from any head trauma) and this is my first. Absolutely love it!

High quality, very comfortable on long rides and light.

Have gone through many helmets through the years. This was one of the better ones that fits for my longer rides. Keeps the head cool while being very light and comfortable. Fit is very good with the rear adjustment making it snug without adding pressure points. At times, you forget the helmet is on.

Well vented for those hot days

Upgraded from a Bell Furio to the Giro Atmos. The Atmos is significantly cooler on warm days. The helmet is very comfortable and sufficiently light that it is barely noticeable. Fit is easily dialed-in. I particularly like the padding as it does not catch the sweat like the Furio leading to a build-up that all of a sudden will overflow down my glasses. Very happy with this purchase to date.

Same Atmos comfort, lighter - for better or worse

I would not usually buy a helmet on line, but already have a Giro Atmos which I love. The new helmet fits fine, love the bright yellow, got a great price with BikeTiresDirect, but the adjustment mechanism isn't as easy to use and the straps are really flimsy. Will be interesting to see if they hold up, but I would prefer the old, heavier straps. I have a big ol' head and Giro seems to fit better than others I have tried.
