The Edge 200 is the most affordable Garmin yet.

This lightweight computer uses high sensitivity HotFix® GPS to provide all the basic features -- you can track speed, distance and location during your workout without the use of magnets or sensors. The unit also provides time and calories burned for training or everyday riding.

Garmin's Courses feature lets you challenge your times on previous rides, or download rides from other Garmin users for a virtual competition. And like its older brothers, this budget-friendly unit is compatible with Garmin Connect online community to analyze, categorize and share data.

The Edge 200 weighs 59 grams and features a water resistant casing with an internal rechargeable lithium-ion battery (up to 14 hours of battery life). Connects to computer and charger using an included USB cable. Bike mounts and AC charger also included. Available in Black/White.

PC Windows 2000 or newer compatible or Mac OS X 10.2.2 or newer compatible. Minimum system requirements also include 32 MB RAM, 2 MB free disk space, CD-ROM drive, and Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0 or newer.

Note: Unlike other Garmin units, the Edge 200 is not ANT+ compatible and cannot be used in conjunction with heart rate monitors, cadence sensors or power meters.

Just what I needed.

The Edge 200 provides all the basic data I need, and more than I expected, for my commutes and weekend rides. It was very simple to set up and mount on my bike. I now know how far I've ridden, how fast I went, average speed, elevation change, and more. It has an auto pause feature that's useful for commuting, as it pauses the ride when you have to stop for any reason.

This GPS is small and accurate.

I use this on my rides to keep track of the mileage and speed which is all I need. It is also capable of down loading your info onto Garmin's site which is something you can't do with other basic computers. I recommend this to those of you who just want a basic bike computer.

A wonderful device to track your rides without magnets or belts, downloading is a wonderful plus.

I have a TREK mountain bike and 1974 vintage Raleigh Competition and Professional road bikes all rides are recorded on my Edge 200 and downloaded to my computer. I would suggest anyone who has no cycle computer get one........it's basic and foolproof.

There is nothing I don't like about the Edge 200. It's a foolproof way to see where you went, how far you travelled and how long it took.

I'm 71 years old and marvel at this device.

Love the Garminn Edge 200

For the money, you certainly can't beat it. It keeps track of maximum speed, average speed, time, distance, ascent, descent, estimated calories, total time and mileage you have ridden and history of all of the above.

An inexpensive way for gps-aided course following for brevets and tours.

In ordinary use, the Edge 200 displays speed, distance, etc. What sets this unit apart is the feature of connecting to the usb port and downloading planned courses as .gpx files from the internet. A moving cookie crumbs image of the course appears with the top of the screen as straight ahead and appoaching turns are displayed graphically. Using this unit for direction finding plus a regular (your old one) cyclometer for speed and distance makes a great combination for staying on course. The two cyclometers provide the basic information needed by randoneurs without the awkward switching of screens. If you don't need heart rate, cadence, power meter, baromteric altitude, maps, etc. this Garmin is a steal. A caution is that the battery is good for about ten hours on a full charge.

Great value for Garmin

Easy to set up. The included mount for use on top of the stem seemed a bit insecure. It is much easier to read with an out front mount such as bar fly or k edge. Has enough fetures to be useful, but not so many to induce information overload

Great GPS data

This is my first GPS, device, so I cannot comment as to how it compares to others. However, I can tell you that it is very easy to use and provides a wealth of information. I no longer have to fiddle with a magnet on my wheel or zip-tie the computer to its receiving unit to make sure I'm getting accurate readings. I do not know how accurate the vertical feet climbed function is, the data from Garmin does not match that of Strava or Mapmyride, but I believe it gives me a fairly good idea of how much I suffered on the road. For the price, I am very happy, and I do not need to spend the extra $100 for the Edge 500.

Love it!!!!

If you are looking for a straight forward gps unit that provides clear speed, distance, time, average info this is the unit for you. I converted from an iPhone app in a case to the Edge 200 and wish I would have saved the money on the app. The Edge 200 is compact and the bar mount is super easy and secure. I really like how easy it is to upload to my computer and view the detailed stats after my rides. This product is a winner.

Great battery life!

I use it almost every time I hop on my bike - commuting, casual rides, and long day rides on weekends(80 miles). I am very impressed with the battery life - I typically charge it every other week, and I bike about 150 miles a week. The unit acquires satellite signal amazingly fast except when I am in downtown surrounding by tall buildings. I do wonder if I should have gotten the Edge 500 but for the price, I am very satisfied with the Edge 200.

Good basic GPS

I have used this computer for the past 4 months now. It gives you basic information and that's all I need speed, distance, calories consumed, and a few other values. I have had no big issues with this unit, it picks up satellites quickly. I like that you can upload the ride data while the device is connected to your computer to Garmin Connect to keep and see an overview of them. The one problem I have had is file corruption of 2 rides of my 81 so far, I could not upload those two to Garmin Connect. Other than that I am very happy with it and the price. It comes with two mounting brackets so you can easily move it to your other bike with no fuss.

Could use a clock...

Great computer, all the functions that you need mph, mileage, elasped time & ave speed. My only beef wth the product is that it does not have a clock-often I am squeezing in a ride and need to be home at a certain time. It's a hassle to keep checking my cellphone.

I like the fact that it is wireless and rechargeable, the battery lasts up to 14 hours between charges-no issues so far running out of juice. The GPS feature is cool and the online Connect website allows you to track rides, times, elevation and weather conditions. Certainly enough data to geek out on.

If you are going to drop your money on the Garmin, bite the bullet and purchase a K-Edge out-front mount. The stock Garmin mounting system is a bunch of rubber bands.

Simple to mount, intuative interface makes it easy to use.

I am a recreational rider, not hard core. This computer is perfect for my needs. It is simple to use, has the information I need on a single screen and does not have features that a more serious rider would want but that a casualpleasure cyclist has little or no use for. I'm very happy with this computer A plus is the garmin connect web site where you can track your rides.

Fun machine

Being able to put the info on the computer and sharing it is great!

It would be neat if they would also graph the per cent of climb.

For a recreational rider who knows his cadence pretty close and is afraid to know his heart rate, this is all you need.

Great Device

Picks up satellites fast, much faster than my car garmin.

Garmin connect software is good. You can plan a route and the device guides you round it.

Excellent battery life. Only problem is if you forget to save the ride when you put your bike away the next day the battery is flat. I just remember to do this now.

I like it a lot.

Great device, provides lots of information.

I use it for mountain bike riding. After uploading the device data to the Web site, charts, graphs, maps, and data are provided that display time, distance, and elevation gain and loss information. Totals for all rides are provided and rides can be compared. The device is easily attached and removed from the handle bars.

The next gen in cycle computing

Intuitive, easy to use, provides useful information beyond that of a normal cycle computer, even though this is an entry level model. Move up in the range for even greater utility. Eliminates wires and easy to transfer from bike to bike. Website is a bit wonky, haven't been able to download courses to the unit yet, but customer service has been willing to help.

An excellent unit that works!

I use my Garmin Edge 200 to track my routes and elevation. It uploads easily to Garmin's site and MapMyRide. This helps with creating routes for group rides. The unit matches my cyclometers very closely. The stats provided cover all my needs. The unit works well, very intuitive menu icons. The mount offers great flexibity in positioning and ease of movement to all my bikes. No signal loss issues. The app on my cell phone loses GPS about half the time which prompted me to try the Edge 200. I do not want turn by turn directions, just a unit that follows my ride accurately every time out. Definitely recommend it.

Excellent Product!

First, you cannot beat the price. After discounts and Rebates I got it for $87. Lowest priced GPS based bike calculator on the Web. The Edge 200 is really easy to use. You can figure it out without reading the manual. For those not caring about the heart monitor option (the device pretty accurately calculates calorie burn if you input height and weight) this is the way to go. The satellite synch time is just a few seconds. The web interface for tracking your ride looks great and is also easy to use. The only thing I can see to improve the product would be to put a clock on the interface.

GPS for Less

I have been pondering getting a Garmin for awhile but couldn't justify the $250-500 price tag.

While looking at some other options I realized that for $25 or so more than some regular cyclometers I could get the Garmin 200 AND get some GPS functionality.

It doesn't have ANT or some other features, but for someone in the market for a new cyclometer who has wondered about GPS they should consider this.

I like have the record of my rides. I don't need much ride analysis, but I have used the online tools to better understand my routes (ie-doing an extra repeat of a hill because it is much better training then the next hill on the route).

My only real complaint is that it doesn't have a % grade display on the unit. But, I can upload to strava or ride with gps and get that.
