Fizik Aliante Braided Carbon Rail Twin Flex Saddle

Like many cyclists, I tried several saddles before I found one that worked for me. My first Aliante was so much more comfortable than any saddle I had tried before I was actually amazed at the difference. The Aliante has a scalloped shape which spreads the pressure across a larger area than many saddles. The nose is quite narrow reducing the potential for chafing. The padding is relatively thin, but the saddle structure is a flexible carbon fiber which does a great job of shock absorption without the problems associated with thickly padded saddles.

Every now and then, I try another saddle just to see what it's like, but I always come back to this one.

If you like to move around a lot on your saddle and are looking for a saddle with several different seating positions, this isn't the best choice. But if you tend to sit in more-or-less the same position as you ride, this is a very comfortable saddle.

This saddle is wonderful. It has made riding a lot more enjoyable. Sure its an expensive saddle, but its worth every penny because you don't have to think about trying to find a comfortable position during your rides. Make sure you spend some time dialing it in. You wont be dissapointed.

My Aliante is from 2004 and was the first generation of carbon railed Aliante saddles (has a sleeve over the carbon in the clamping areas) This saddle has seen countless miles in the heat and rain (and a few crashes as well) I love this saddle and will continue to purchase this design in the future when my current saddle finally falls apart. By the way, the saddle is slowly deteriorating, but not more than expected. The carbon has held up wonderfully in all areas of the saddle. As far as fit goes, the saddle certainly has a sweet spot which can limit some movement forward or backward. I find that saddles that allow movement (multiple positions) seem to compromise comfort, although the Arione was is close second choice for me. I have ridden many hours on that saddle as well.

350 miles, mostly 25-30 mile rides and no soreness. Ever. A couple of times I have felt some numbness but it's not normal. Overall, this is a great saddle and I'm very pleased. It's light, though I don't know how accurate the advertised weight is as I didn't weigh it. No matter, it's worth the extra weight.

Finding the correct width is the key, this is my second Fizik Aliante Braided Carbon Rail Twin Flex Saddle. First one was a gift, the second got it on sale. I've had 4 bikes and the same saddle, old one is coming apart on the sides. The new saddle looks to be a better designed cover. Hope it's the same good ride.

Slightly more rounded than the Arione,the Alliante is more compliant in the center and has more rounded sides for folks with big thighs. It seems to yield a slightly smoother ride over rough pavement.

I use this seat on both my long distance road bike and my climbing bike. It offers great balance between providing support when you need it and getting out of your way when you don't. It is easy to stand up and re-seat. It has a profile that makes room for your body as you move between the hoods and the drops and allows you to stay in the drops for extended periods.
