Continental's new Mountain King 29re reigns supreme thanks to a totally restructured tread pattern.
Improving on what was excellent soft/loose grip, the new Mountain King features larger shoulder lugs and a more pronounced 'void' toward the center lugs for cornering that's practically telepathic and reliable performance over a wide variety of terrain.
This version of the Mountain King features Conti's standard casing with 3 fabric plies for a total of 84 TPI. A folding bead keeps the weight down.
Recommended pressure: 45/50 PSI. Max. pressure: 58/65 PSI (2.2/2.4" widths). Folding bead. 29 x 2.2 Inch (55-622 ISO) and 29 x 2.4 Inch (60-622 ISO). 740/800g.

Great ridin' rubber
The Mountain King 29 has excellent traction and the expected supple ride of a Continental Tire. I would LOVE to see this in a 2.3 inch casing instead of just more knobs on the same casing as all the other 2.2 Conti's.

One of two tires had 3 pin holes in the sidewalls when I mounted it tubless!
It was fairly difficult to mount on the tubless Stans rim and when I inflated with the Stans sealant it had 3 pin holes in the sidewalls that wouldn't completey seal with the Stans.
The other tire mounted tubless with no leaks just fine. It seems to be a good grippy tire but my main gripe is with the holes. It may have been my fault in not being careful enough mounting it. To avoid paying shipping cost to return, I'm just going to ride it with a tube which kind of stinks!
