The renowned Grand Prix is easily the most respected road clincher in cycling. Known for its extremely long wear, the Grand Prix is a staple training and racing tire for all cyclists, from weekend warriors to world champions.
This updated version features the Black Chili rubber compound for lower rolling resistance, plus even even better durability and grip. Excellent puncture protection is ensured by Continental's proven Poly-X breaker, a lightweight layer directly beneath the tread.
The Grand Prix is available in 700c x 23mm (23-622 ISO) in either folding and wire bead versions. 120 PSI Max. 230g (folding); 280g (wire bead).

Oldie but a Goodie.
This tire has been around for ever, but don't let its old age fool you. This screamer was at the top of the podium not to long ago. Great rolling resistance and a formidable amount of grip keep this classic competitive with some of today's fastest tires. If you are trying to get that classic look, or save a few bucks with out sacrificing performance this is the tire. So you might ask, was the Grand Prix just a tire that was ahead of its time? I think so, and maybe its even got a few years of glory left.

Durable lightweight training tire handmade in Germany
Andrew's review from 2009 is for the old version of this tire, not the updated version. The updated version is still handmade in Germany (unlike many of Conti's less expensive tires) but now incorporates Black Chili and other improvements. It's super durable - I just took one off my bike 5200 miles, all on the rear wheel, with zero flats. The tread is pretty much squared off, but there is still some rubber left. Ride is good, although not as supple as a GP 4000S (my favorite, but a lot more expensive, especially on a per-mile basis), grip is good, rolling resistance seems pretty decent. Measured weight is 222gm in 700x23. What's not to like, especially at the price?

Smooth, fast, durable tire
Before I got a set of Conti Grand Prix, I didn't think tires mattered that much. The difference a good tire makes became obvious soon after I pedaled away on the new rubber. The Grand Prix is called the bread and butter of the Continental line, and buttery smooth describes the ride pretty well. I made better time going faster with less effort as well-and I'm pretty sure it wasn't just in my head. The Grand Prix is durable too. I've bombed down gravel roads and through pothole ambushes and emerged unscathed. Great performance and durability (bang) for the money (buck).

Great tire compound but unfortunately I got a defective pair
Given Continental's reputation, I'm sure I just happened to purchase a defective pair of these tires. For whatever reason, the front tire didn't want to stay on the rim. After a two minute descent, I began to get a hop in the front end. Pulled to the side of the road and boom! I've been mounting tires for years and know what's required to make tires and tubes seat nicely on rims. Wheels are Mavic Ksyrium ESs and I've never had issues with other tires so the wheels aren't the problem. Exchanged these for a set of 4000Ss with no issues so far.
